The basin is fringed on three sides by mountains, and is drained by the Klein Berg river and its tributaries. The nearest towns are Ons Rust and Gouda beyond the Nuwekloof Pass, Wolseley some 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) to the south inside the basin, and Ceres and Prince Alfred Hamlet beyond Michell's Pass in the Warm Bokkeveld.

I went with my daughter and her friend - we are intermediate riders. John is an amazing guy - really knowledgeable and clearly loves all his horses. We had a beautiful ride with great horses - a truly special experience.

My family and I were so excited to visit this waterfall, it has become a bit of a tradition to visit the local waterfall when we go away. After being cooped up for months in lockdown because of covid-19 we were absolutely thrilled to be in the open air and enjoying the beauty of this area. Because of the excellent rains this winter, the waterfall was gushing at full speed and what an amazing experience. The sound of the rushing water, the cool spray and the stunning views just made this so special. The hike up to the top part of the fall is pretty steep but doable. Wearing sensible shoes will be advisable. A really wonderful experience for my hubby and I but my boys thought it was so awesome! We love being in nature and this was a treat. Don't forget to obtain a permit from the Tulbagh Tourism office which is in Church Street. Friendly and helpful staff!
