Traverse City, known as a four-season playground, is now celebrated for quality cuisine, wine and culture. Miles of sugar-sand shoreline include the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore with romantic lighthouses and coastal villages. The glacier-sculpted landscape of orchards and vineyards includes 16 golf courses. Swimming, sailing, paddling, hiking and fishing are favorite warm weather activities, while winter turns the region into a playground for skiers, snowmobilers and snowshoers.

First let me say the owner is the nicest guy you want to meet! The maze was huge and so much fun! There were things to find inside which made it even more fun. We picked apples after and the orchard was wonderful. Great way to spend a half a day.

I love coming here during the summer months when the lavender fields are in their glory. The Old Mission Peninsula is gorgeous and when one is driving around the peninsula the Harbor View Nursery & Lavender Farm is a must stop. I have purchased their culinary lavender for baking in the past and I especially like their handmade lotions. If you love lavender, you'll love Harbor View Nursery & Lavender Farm.

You'll be happy next spring when yours are in full bloom. Large fields with so many kinds of iris. If you go post-flower season, ask to see their photos. The plants are healthy and the owners helpful. Only dilemma is choosing more than I have space to plant :-)

I finally got to pick blueberries at Buchan's this past summer! It was marvelous and I can't wait to go back. First, it sets up on a hill and there's plenty of close parking. The office area where you check in is cute and the girls working were super nice. You can bring your own bag or bucket or they have them for you to use. You pay by weight what you pick. I brought a kids plastic stool to sit on while picking and was so glad I did! Unlike strawberries, you can actually stand to pick but in order to get the low berries, sitting on a low stool is great! The area is just beautiful as are so many places on Old Mission Peninsula! I am so grateful this family maintains the blueberry bushes and hope they keep it up or it might turn into a vineyard! I was surprised at how inexpensive my bill was for the amount of blueberries I picked! I loved it! They also have baked goods and ice cream there for purchase. And outdoor seating! A must see/do for all!
