Famous for its native son, the astronomer Copernicus, Torun was founded by the Teutonic Knights in the 13th century. You can still see the ruins of their castle, left pretty much unchanged from when it was destroyed by disgruntled medieval townsfolk. Torun was one of the few Polish cities to escape major damage in World War II. Its beautifully preserved Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Don’t miss the striking Old Town Hall. Torun is also famed for its gingerbread.

The Invisible House is one out of 5 tourist attractions in the world (of which we know) that presents the world by switching off the sense of sight. And it is one of the 5 most important places to visit in Torun. The tour lasts about 60 minutes and takes place in total darkness. Considering the fact of strong emotions experienced during the tour, we kindly invite persons at age 9+. The Invisible House directs its emotions to each of us individually. The proposed tour is of very unique, individual and personal character. Therefore, we would like to ask our visitors not to talk to friends or families of what they have seen here, or in fact, of what they have not seen in the Invisible House. Such reports and suggestions may interfere with experiences and impressions of our future visitors.
I personally loved it! I felt so welcomed by everyone there and I really enjoyed my time. I speak both Polish and English(Better at English), but out tour guide never failed to help us if we didn't understand something in Polish. It was such an amazing experience, I was scared at first cause it was pitch black, but as we continued on I felt more safe since our guide, was helpful and knew the way himself. I would honestly recommend, it was such a fun experience learning how to understand your surroundings and how the blind live the exact same day as us, just without light. I really hope to come again!

The Ethnographic Museum in Toruń came into being 1st January 1959. Its creatress and the first long-term manager was professor Maria Znamierowska-Prüfferowa, whom name, the museum has carried since 15th December 1999. The Ethnographic Museum in Torun is one out of three independent ethnographic museums in the country. It is the council institution of culture and it acts in the strength of museums act from the day 21st November 1996, and the Sejmik (the Sejm) of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province is its organizer. The Museum is listed to the State Register of Museums.
The museum is in two parts. The outside where the various buildings are an inside where there are displays of items associated with life, work and religion of days gone by. The location of the museum is easy to find being just outside the old town, Can't comment on entry price as we happened upon free museum entry day, bargain! Didn't use an audio tour as we picked up an explanatory leaflet in English for the outdoor exhibits. The indoor displays are all in Polish but Google Translate on your phone does the job nicely so no problems in interpretation. Spent a good 2 hours here.

The Living Museum of Gingerbreads in Torun is the first so interactive museum in Europe. It has existed since 2006 and it is located at 9 Rabianska street, in the middle of the city center. It all takes place in the Medieval Bakery under the watchful eyes of Gingerbread Master. Visitors prepare dough by themselves and bake their own gingerbreads. Another floor is a manufacturing room from the early 20th century where we teach how to decorate gingerbreads with an icing. We welcome all those who want to learn about the tradition of baking gingerbreads in Torun and its medieval culture. All of this happens in a fantastic atmosphere with a great deal of humor. The visit in our Museum is fun and joy for everyone, no matter what age you are. We welcome visitors daily 10am – 6pm. The last show starts at 5 pm. The show translated in English starts at 2 pm.
Lots of fun and very hands on; this is where their famous gingerbread is made and known throughout Europe. Reserve ahead of time. Gets busy.

This place has 6 floors that cover most areas of knowledge and because it's brand new the exhibits are all wonderful. There is something for every age here, from 2-13 years of age. We went with our 2-year old and she obviously couldn't gain knowledge but she had a blast. Personally, there is so much it's better to go multiple times but you can spend the whole day there easily. Family place with tons for kids to do. great educational experience especially if you have some background knowledge before going. Highly recommend.
