What to do and see in Tórshavn, Streymoy: The Best Historical & Heritage Tours

Join this whole day guided tour, that begins and ends right at your hotel in Tórshavn. After leaving Tórshavn the journey takes us by the old mountain road towards Vágoy and on the way, we will make two photo stops were we can see the island of Koltur and the only prison in the Faroe Islands. We drive through the first subsea tunnel that was finished in 2002 and are now on the island of Vágoy. We drive across the whole island to the village of Gásadalur, were the famous waterfall, Múlafossur is located. We will leave the bus and walk around the village, where there will be several photo opportunities. We will visit the villages of Gásadalur, Bøur and Sandavágur and on the way we will make various photo stops, including the islet Tindhólmur and Drangarnir, which are becoming more and more famous everyday around the world. When we have visited all the villages we will head back to Tórshavn and the driver will take another route back, to make sure you will see as much as possible.

We will take the 08:45 ferry from Tórshavn which takes 2 hours and we pass the islands of Nólsoy, Sandoy and Skúvoy. On arrival in the port of Tvøroyri, we will take you on a tour of Suðuroy, probably the most beautiful island from the road. We will visit most of the villages and make time to relax and take lunch in Tvøroyri Afterwards we will drive up to the northern tip of the island and tell the end of the Faroese saga history, as this was the scene for one of the main events. We will stop in Hvalba on our way back to the ferry, where we will visit the ancient coal mines, in operation from the 1770’s. We will also regale the story of how three ships filled with pirates landed and ravaged the village of Hvalba. We will then take the ferry back to Tórshavn, leaving you to reflect on a great day and a memorable tour!

Between every village is a photoshop or two and there will be plenty of time in every village to walk around by your own or accompanied by the tour guide. We depart Tórshavn and head north to Vestmanna, from where the Vestmanna Birdcliffs Boat Tour sails. This Boat trip is 2 hours long and will sail you close to the exceptional Sea Cliffs and breeding grounds of numerous species of birds. The Captain of the Boat will deliver running commentary on what you see along the trip. After the return to Vestmanna we will have a spot of lunch on our scenic drive back to Tórshavn. We will stop at the village of Kvívík where we will see an old excavation of 2 viking longhouses. This will give you a small insight into what daily life was like in Viking times. From there we stop at the village Leynar, a picturesque small village, before driving over the old Mountain Road back to Tórshavn. Along the Mountain Road we will make a few photostops, and you will also get the option to do the beautiful hike "Fyri Vestan" which is a popular hiking trail for locals.

The best way to experience Mykines for a day. We will take care of everything so that you can relax and enjoy every minute of Mykines and all the puffins. We will supply you with lunch and beverages for the hike. After you have been picked up in Tórshavn you can enjoy the 45-minute drive to Sørvágur ferry port. From there we will take the boat to Mykines. The sailing time is around 45 minutes along with stunning scenery and cliffs. When we arrive in Mykines the group will take a stroll in the only village on the island. There we will get ready to experience Mykines, the islet Mykineshólmur, and all the puffins. Puffins nest all along the hiking path. The hike is approx. 4 hours out to the Lighthouse and back. The hike is rated as medium to high. When back in the Mykines village, we will get a chance to warm up with a meal, drinks, and coffee. Back in the Sørvágur village, you will be taken by bus back to the capital, Tórshavn, and your hotel.
