Four-season family resort has lots to do on and off the slopes.
During the late 1970s, I was a member of the Central Michigan University Ski Club and skied at Crystal Mountain about once a week. (Heck, one very-long weekday trip there that ended at about 9:30 at night, I made 70 runs down "Loki" because the snow was so perfect that it was just too good to head for home! Really!!) But while I loved skiing at Crystal Mountain (especially since CMU Ski Club members got a big discount on their lift tickets), I never considered this ski resort to be in the same league as a place like Boyne Mountain. Well ... that was a long time ago! Today, Crystal Mountain Resort is every bit as "upscale" as Boyne Mountain ever was. When I saw the place recently, I could hardly believe my eyes! And it's truly a 4-season resort these days. I was there in early September, and the Loki Quad chairlift was operating to serve Michigan's only alpine ride, the "Crystal Coaster Alpine Slide." With two golf courses, hiking trails, mountain biking, a disc golf course, tennis courts, and a one-acre, outdoor water playground available, there's plenty to do for the entire family. Crystal Mountain has definitely entered the top tier of Michigan's resorts!

100% local honey, mead and Michigan grown wine. We have a wide selection of red and white wines along with our own estate meads. Come and sample Pure Michigan.
Have known about St. Ambrose Cellars and had the opportunity to visit over Labor Day weekend. We were visiting with our niece who was checking out the facility and amenities for a possible wedding venue. Beautiful property, spacious with several building including a tasting room, barn for inside activities like dancing and wedding ceremony, and outdoor tables and games. The gardens were in full bloom and the bee hives were active and full of honey. We sat outside under an umbrella table by the bocce ball box and enjoyed a flight of four honey based drinks. The mead beverages were light, sweet and tasty and we will definitely return for more drink and food and who knows maybe a family wedding and reception.

This is a great place to visit during the summer, although you can use snow shoes to do the hike in the winter. All of the paths are shaded by trees and there are a lot of interesting sculptures to see, as well as to interact with.
The hike caters to people of all ages, and many of the placards, as well as art, is intended for children or young adults. It is worth the time to explore all of the art that is located throughout area.
There are different paths that can be taken to vary the length and difficulty of your hike. I suggest following all of them as the last path has some of the better art, a good view of the area, and will give you some good exercise. Although the last path isn't that difficult, I wouldn't suggest the path for people who struggle with walking up inclines.

Born on the waters of the Betsie River, raised on its watershed farmland and inspired by upstream Journeys of the Steelhead. We are Michigan's first farm based distillery, come book to a tour of our distillery, or just stop by and visit our tasting room.
This is a new distillery in the area. The principals have made a point to get involved with the community with fun raisers for various charities. The distillery has music for many of these occasions which attracts large crowds. If you visit make sure you take the tour of the facility..

It is a bit pricey, so be prepared. They do offer punch cards that will save you a little money. We went there with my son and he just loved it. He was so thrilled that he insisted we go a second time. What a blast. Very fun!

We loved this place and will definately stay here again. We stayed in a beautiful small log cabin cottages that slept up to four. We had everything we needed & enjoyed using the fire pits and wood that's on the premises. They have a short zip line, horse shoes, there was another game & more. There are charcoal grills chairs on the front porch. This place was beautiful and clean. They also have larger cabins. The owner was very pleasant.
