Christy Barry and his partner Sheila have entertained friends and musicians at their home for many years, sitting around the fire playing music and telling stories. Although the pub sessions are extremely popular they realized that many of their visitors preferred to listen to traditional music in the intimate environment of their home. As a result of this they decided to open up their atmospheric home to visitors so they can experience local Irish music in the relaxed surroundings of their home. Christy talks and discusses the history of traditional Irish music and plays great tunes. Visitors can enjoy the experience of visiting a local home, enjoying local company and listening to a good traditional music session around the fire. Sheila is an artist and her works surround the rooms in the house creating a truly art home atmosphere.
What could be more authentic than to be welcomed into an Irish musician's home and treated to an evening of music and stories? Christy and Shelagh welcomed us warmly and treated us to trad music, wonderful stories of days gone by, and some smoked salmon, delicious local cheeses and wine. Thanks for one of the most authentic experiences I've enjoyed so far in Ireland. Not to be missed!

We spent a lovely few hours here last night. The landlady invited the men behind the bar to investigate the whiskey selection...which was superb. The Guinness was creamy and unfortunately very "moreish" ???? We sampled some fabulous whiskey from their selection and enjoyed the genuine olde worlde atmosphere. We'll be back.

We stopped in here just as a tour bus of people was finishing up their meals: the staff were very helpful and let us know that if we waited a few minutes we would get a great table. Super helpful friendly staff, good cider and tasty food, would be a great spot for a session!

The lady at our hotel recommended it and we were so glad she did. We were lucky to get a seat and the staff were wonderful-helpful, friendly and so patient. Food was excellent, local beer (brewed upstairs!) was great and the best bit was the pub itself. No pretentious decor etc, just a proper, old local pub, warts and all. All the family loved it...it was just a shame we had to get the children home for bed as we missed the live music which came on at 9pm.

Really tasty food. Small cosy place. Personal servive. Good value for money. We are 7 happy campers. The wife loved the clam chowder and the beef stew with Guinness was amazing. The chicken tenders were also very tasty. To top it off the apple pie and moist chocolate brownie was to die for... So happy we took a chance to stop here for lunch.
