Podere La Chiesa is a winery located among the Pisan hills, 30km south-east of Pisa along the road to Volterra. It is on the top of an upland (125 meters a.s.l.) just before the little village of Casanova. Thanks to the great passion and skills of Maurizio Iannantuono and Palma Tonacci, Podere La Chiesa produces high quality wines organic and mostly from Sangiovese grape that is the most important autochthonous character of the territory. The new Winery is a masterpiece of modern architecture, visitors, who love wine are welcome in a warm and cozy setting, immersed in the wonderful Tuscan countryside. The cellar hosts art presentations as well as cultural and musical events on a yearly basis. Our wine is the outcome of our hard team work, deep knowledge of Tuscan nature, local culture and passion. Our Wine is an emotion that our guests treasure forever in their heart after every visit.
This is a small winery in the Tuscany area. We were so impressed by our host, Palma. The winery is a beautiful building which showcases the two passions of its owners - wine and art. There is a small but stunning art gallery above the wine cellar. We had a tour and explanation of the wine making process and history of this small boutique winery and the area. We were a party of eight with one person with a gluten intolerance. I had emailed Palma the day prior and she was happy to provide a (delicious and interesting) gluten free meal to our GI member. We sat down at a beautiful table to a wonderful meal with a different wine for each course. The food was plentiful and delicious. The large glass windows and high ceilings make for a lovely ambience. The view of the vineyards is stunning. We stayed for four hours and had a wonderful time. Highly recommend. Very memorable.

The Castelvecchio Agricultural Estate is located in Terricciola, a hilltop village in the Tuscan province of Pisa which originated as an Etruscan hamlet settled over the Sterza waterway where the Era and Cascina valleys converge. The 59 acre (24 hectare) estate property is divided into land for sowing, olive and fruit groves, of which six are vineyard. The nucleus of the original estate, a charming farmhouse and its surrounding land, has been inhabited and cultivated by the Pantani family since 1956. Love for the land is something that is handed down from generation to generation. In 2002, Claudia, the youngest daughter, and her stone mason brothers and cousins decided to rally together to resume the cultivation of wine on their estate. The entire family got engaged in the enterprise, finding solutions to challenges and realizing the project together, with the labor of their own hands. The vineyard was planted and winery built, wooden doors hand-carved, and frames constructed for the cane mats to dry grapes for Vin Santo. Attention has been given to every last detail with dedicated family "know how" and loving care. Castelvecchio is the realization of a dream and the fruition of a passion. Our characteristic wines express our respect for the soil, the nature of our local traditions, and the dignity of our careful work in the vineyard and winery to create top quality wine.
This is just outside the beautiful town of Terricciola and easily accessible by car or bike. Set in a lovely valley the wine is fantastic as is Julia who took our wine tasting with us. We have done this twice and purchased crates of wine to be sent back to the UK. Which we have enjoyed immensely. The wine is very very good as is the tasting experience, with their oil and Grapa but dont just taste, buy as well would be my advise. Lovely to have this now as our 'local' vineyard.
