One of seven pilgrimage basilicas in the world, this church was founded in 432 AD and is where the famous architect Bernini is buried.
We were staying in Trastevere with an air B and B.we walked around the cobbled lanes and came across piazza Santa Maria and this beautiful church which I had read about it is amazing and inspires serene meditation ????♀️ . The frescoes and building are beautiful and it sits in the piazza . Absolutely stunning and to think it started building in the 2nd century

Piazza San Bernardo is a busy small piazza with the prominent structure at one side standing as marker, the fountain of Moses. In this place is where three churches stand around the piazza. It forms the junction of three Rione or districts of Rome, and each of the three churches stands in a different one. Santa Susanna is in Rioni Trevi, San Bernardo alle Terme is in Rioni Castro Pretorio, and S Maria della Vittoria is in Rioni Sallustiano. All of these churches have a distinct characteristic and charm.

On our walk to Villa Borghese we went through these gates. Amazing to think these are standing 1500 years later. To be admired.
