Small Hythe place is a wonderful property once owned by the actress Ellen Terry. It’s full of history and the staff were full of interesting facts. Had a lovely tea room in the barn at the back of the main house.

Kent & East Sussex Railway

The K&ESR opened in 1900 as England’s first ‘light railway’, serving the rural communities of East Sussex and Kent. Closing to passengers in 1954, the line was saved and reopened by a charitable organisation in 1974. It now operates steam hauled and diesel observation trains on a 10.5 mile line from Bodiam Castle in East Sussex to the historic market town of Tenterden in west Kent.

The High Street

A very attractive small market town with plenty of independent shops and small cafes. A beautiful High Street with a lovely tree lined avenue and greens, and an abundance of historic buildings to gaze at including a fabulous 11th century church. Grab a ride on one of the steam trains from Tenterden Town Station and take in the lovely views of the unspoilt surrounding countryside as the train trundles down the track. The title "Tenterden, the Jewel of the Weald" is richly deserved. Free car parking in Bridewell Lane car park every Sunday and on Bank Holidays

A very informative hour was spent here finding out about local history. The gentleman at the desk knew his stuff and was very keen to give us an overview of the museum as well as explain to us how a town in the middle of Kent could be one of the Cinque Ports! I suggest that you pop along and find out!. You will leave educated and entertained! As older visitors, we particularly enjoyed the 1960's rooms from a nostalgic point of view, and I'm sure that children would find lots of interesting things to learn about too. A lovely little gem of a museum, well worth a visit.

I had brought this tour for my partners birthday. We were both a bit sceptical on our journey to the brewery, but we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Jenny our tour guide was charming and informative and was able to answer any questions. We were able to try a selection of beers and ales I would definitely recommend this tour to friends/ family and anyone who enjoys a good beer or ale.
