Taunton /ˈtɔːntən/ is a large regional town in Somerset, England. The town currently peaks at a population of 69,570 as of 2018. The town itself has over 1,000 years of religious and military history, including a monastery dating back to the 10th century and Taunton Castle, which has origins in the Anglo Saxon period and was later the site of a priory. The Normans then built a stone structured castle, which belonged to the Bishops of Winchester. The current heavily reconstructed buildings are the inner ward, which now houses the Museum of Somerset and the Somerset Military Museum.

Louise Tilden qualified in Beauty & Massage therapies in 2010 following a successful career in Hospitality. She worked alone from home for several years before launching “The Garden Room”, a popular home-based salon. She has now come full circle, and is again working alone from home, delivering excellent customer service and wonderful treatments, using the very best products. "I stick to what I’m good at, and that’s why you wont get a nail treatment here! " Louise specialising in CACI Synergy facials, organic skincare, waxing and body treatments.
Visited The Garden Room for my half day birthday treatment and afternoon tea. Fantastic full body massage by Sophie, followed by afternoon tea and reflexology. Great atmosphere. Friendly, intimate, and welcoming attitude. Louise the owner very friendly and welcoming. Reasonable pricing too. Highly recommend this place.

Steve and Sally were fantastic hosts during our family alpaca walking experience today (25 August 2020). We have spent the morning with all the alpacas and my girls loved it saying “it was the best experience ever!” Would highly recommend a visit to see the alpacas. The refreshments afterwards and homemade cakes capped off a perfect morning. It’s a thumbs up and five stars from us! ????????????????????.

Lock and Code escape rooms Taunton, is the first escape room in Taunton. We suggest allowing 1hr and a half to play these games. An escape room is like a mix between the Crystal Maze and the Da Vinci code. Each themed room holds a variety of locked drawers, boxes, hidden rooms and puzzles and you must solve all of them to complete the quest within an hour. Great for everyone and great teamwork.
What an amazing experience this was. Not only was this a great escape room, but the whole atmosphere was set up to be a part of it, including the host. Host was spot on friendly without being intrusive and perfectly balanced with giving hints when needed without jumping in. We will definitely be back to try the other 3 rooms

Walked from Bridgewater out to the boat and anchor pub which was just short of two miles. It's a lovely peaceful walk with good terrain. Not busy at all, canal looks a bit neglected in parts but still beautiful for the most part.

Housed in Taunton’s historic castle, the Museum of Somerset tells the county's fascinating story from prehistoric times to the present day. Within the 12th century castle walls you’ll find contemporary gallery spaces and great family visitor facilities, all situated within the vibrant town centre. With an amazing nine themed galleries, each with its own distinctive character, there’s something for everyone to discover. Our ‘must see’ exhibits include a 200 million year old Plesiosaur fossil (a type of marine reptile); the impressive Low Ham Roman mosaic; a stunning Bronze Age Gold Torc and the shoes worn by 7ft4 Joseph Sewell. The museum also houses The Somerset Military Museum.
This museum was light, bright and totally interesting, great art exhibition, army history, uniforms, weapons, the rebellion, local history, from Jurassic to the present, great Roman mosaic, nicely laid out, modern, good cafe with reasonably priced food, museum, is in and old castle, great place to get away from the high street shops and it’s Free !
