Yarns Artwork in Silk is a unique 3D textile art installation consisting of 4 very large handworked silk panels decipting local events and vistas in a seasonal diaroma. Viewed in an auditorium accompanied by an audio visual narration. Crafted by over 300 artists using silk dying & painting, hand & machine embroidery, quilting, patchwork and many more techniques.
Such a wonderful surprise when we were passing through Deloraine this week we felt intrigued about the Artworks in Silk. We found them at the Visitor Information Centre and what an amazing treat it was - to be seated in a very comfortable theatre and have them explained to us first, then we could go down and look at the intricate workmanship up close! The story of how many workers in silk came together to create these exquisite panels was inspiring. Then, on the encouragement of Cara and Vicky, we went out to see the Museum of heritage buildings, machinery, homes and every day life of our early settlers. It was an excellent display and so 'full of life', one that all Tasmanian and Australian children should visit at some time for they will come away with a deeper understanding of times past. Our thanks go to the warmly welcoming (and knowledgable) twosome Cara and Vicky!

We are a family owned distillery producing small batch gin and whisky. When you come to visit us you will meet us right in the distillery where we work and you will meet the people who actually create the products and who will share details of the process with you as you enjoy a tasting. We suggest you call ahead as sometimes circumstances mean we have an unexpected interruption to our advertised hours.
My new wife and I fell in love with the gin and whiskey instantly. Experiance was incrediable too, tasting was free because we bought a gin and Rex included another speical Hemp Gin tasting free. Best sloe gin and whiskey Ive ever tried. We went back and bought another two bottles after hellfire. Highly recommended.

Completed the Three Capes Track with a group of friends - what an amazing adventure - stunning scenery - excellent accommodation and cooking facilities.. very surprised by the cabins and cooking areas that have been built. The rangers chat each night was very educational and a highlight to the coming day. Not a hike to complete in warm weather as some of the track is in full sun with no option of shade...

Step inside Australia's oldest operating brewery, nestled at the foot of the majestic Mount Wellington, to learn how Cascade has been crafting beer since 1832. Our guides will share Cascade's fabled recipe; a dash of history, a healthy dose of Tasmania's finest ingredients and a generous serve of brewing craft. You can take a tour or just relax and enjoy Cascade beers and Mercury ciders, savour a delicious lunch and wander our three acres of heritage gardens.
From the cannons at the front gate to the fermentation room on the top floor, this informative tour taught us about the secrets of beer making and the convict workers who enjoyed five 10 minute beer drinking sessions each day when the bell rang! Lucinda was a terrific guide.

Art that inspires you. Cultures that connect you. Stories that move you. The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery is a Tasmanian Government organisation. Entry to TMAG remains free, however bookings are now required.
Well worth a visit - just wished we'd had a bit more time as there was so much to see. The highlight was definitely The Thylacine Gallery on Level 1 - which contained some bones and fabulous old film of the now extinct Tasmanian Tiger. Also lots of interesting exhibits of Tasmanian Aboriginal culture.

Our winery, founded in 1962, focuses on a small, very high-quality output. From estate-grown fruit, our ultra-premium wines are made using small-batch winemaking techniques in our gravity-assisted winery. Taste it on site, at our festivals, or at select venues around the country.
Moorilla Estate is located directly next to MONA and is absolutely worth a visit. There is a winery tour available and Cellar Door for wine tastings. A casual restaurant and the more formal restaurant The Source are also part of the winery but bookings are usually necessary. Allow time to pop in when visiting MONA or make it an extra visit to enjoy all that Moorilla has to offer.

One man's amazing tribute, carved entirely from Huon Pine timber, to the history of Tasmania.
You won’t see anything like this in Australia or possibly the world. A must for any visitor, artist, sculptor, tourist or Australian to see. A very finely beautifully sculpted wall of Huon pine by the extremely talented artist and sculptor Greg Duncan. Many amazing stories told in beautifully sculpted Huon pine timber. This is a wonderful family owned business and unique tourist attraction that is very deserving of a visit when heading to the West Coast of Tasmania. Well done to Greg Duncan and his family for all the long hours and hard work undertaken to create such a magnificent, unique tourist attraction for Tasmania and Australia. We look forward to our next visit to view the additional sculpted work that will be completed on the wall.
