Gilberto and Max of Discovery Tours provided the day trip of a lifetime to Anzio where I followed in my father's footsteps to see where he served his country in World War 2. Discovery Tours handled all the logistics, trip planning and detailed information on the battle sites and Anzio campaign with consummate professionalism. I learned much and thanks to Gilberto and Max, have a much deeper and personal understanding of the challenges my father and all other servicemen and women faced during this critical time in history. I enthusiastically recommend Discovery Tours to enrich your travel experience in the wonderful country of Italy.

A lovely lady called Gulia took my husband and I on a walk round Rome sampling food and drink from various shops and a superb pasta lunch. If you are going todo this tour I advise you not to eat much beforehand as we finished the tour around 2:00pm and did not eat another thing all day. We had meats and cheese with some wine to start off with and then followed this in a picturesque market square with tasting various oils and vinegars. Roman Pizza and beer were next, followed by a delicious lunch of two different types of pasta. Then followed dessert of either cannoli or tirimisu at another stop off point, ice cream and coffee to finish. Never felt so full. Guila was full of interesting conversation about her city. All in all a great day out ending at the Trevi fountain.

5. Tarquinia&Cerveteri private day trip from Rome

Best Rome Travel S.R.L.

The most striking aspect of Tarquinia is undoubtedly the legacy left by the Etruscans. The Necropolis of Monterozzi (the highlight of your visit) dates back around 3000 years and has about 200 painted tombs.Visiting the Necropolis of Tarquinia (inserted onto the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004, ) is beyond doubt the best way to get to know the magnitude and at the same time the artistic refinement of the Etruscan people. Not less interesting, to learn about the Etruscans, is The Necropoli della Banditaccia, in Cerveteri which has been declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site together with the necropolis in Tarquinia. It covers an area of 400 hectares (990 acres), of which 10 hectares (25 acres) can be visited, encompassing a total of about 1,000 tombs often housed in characteristic mounds. It is the largest ancient necropolis in the Mediterranean area.

If you have been to Rome before & have seen all the sights, this should be your next ‘excursion’. We had a private driver take us to Tivoli where we met our private guide...a Roman history schoolteacher who was filling in for a friend. She was sooo knowledgeable! It was HOT, but there was water along the way. The history of Hadrian (Adrian to the Italians) was mind-boggling!! Amazing how they could build what they did in only 20 years! The second part of the tour was nearby & much more lush & beautiful (see pics). Lunch was on our own. Tour guide had a few recommendations. Loved the one we chose (see my review). I liked that we had time for a leisurely lunch nearby before we met our driver for the trip back to our hotel.

7. Cerveteri & Tarquinia "The Etruscan Necropolis" Private Tour from Rome

Rome Italy Explora

The Necropolises of Cerveteri and Tarquinia, inserted onto the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004, constitute a unique and exceptional testimoney of the ancient Etruscan Civilization, the only urban civilization of the pre-Roman Age. These tumuli or burial mounds reproduce the homes in their various types of constructions; because they were built to mirror the Etruscan habitation itself, they are the only examples left of such in any form anywhere. The two necropolises of northern Lazio are identical replications of the Etruscans' urban grid. The necropolis of Banditaccia in Cerveteri was developed from the 9th Century B.C., and then expanded beginning with the 7th Century. Similar is the developmental history of the necropolis of Monterozzi in Tarquinia. Both the painted tombs of the nobles and those in more simple styles are singular and extraordinary testaments to Etruscan quotidian life, as well as their ceremonies, mythology and even their artistic capacities.

Inclusions: Pick-up and drop off with luxury transportation and private chauffeur, Entrance tickets in the Necropolis "Banditaccia" of Cerveteri, Entrance tickets in the Necropolis of "Monterozzi" in Tarquinia, Private professional guide

Exclusions: Gratuities (optional), Food and Beverages

We wished we could see Pope Francis but we could never expected we could see him so closely thanks to Rossana great effort. Rossana and our driver Luigi are both great persons and the visit to the Pope very well organized. They both were professional, supportive, engaging and very helpful. Rossana took really a great effort to make the visit tailored to our needs and she had great sense of humour. Big thanks to R and L. We would highly recommend this tour.

Cesar, our driver was punctual for pick up at our Hotel in Rome and throughout the visit to Assisi. He advised us as to what we were going to visit and where to go. Even though we did not employ an licensed guide, Cesar information directed us to what we needed. We had a very nice lunch in Assisi, one that Cesar said was going to have the flavor of the Region, which it did. We arrived gback in Rome around 1730-1745, just in time to go to Mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus, just a block away from our Hotel, Royal Santina, Best Western. Stefano Tours will be are first choice for Tours or Transfers on our next visit.

10. From CIVITAVECCHIA PORTO, under your cruise ship, to TARQUINIA and TUSCANIA!

RomePort

Compared to the other companies we offer you, pick up by ship without bus and / or other wasted time, entrance paid by us for the attractions visited, we do not offer you lunch simply because it really has a paltry cost, with 20 euros you risk eating so much to feel bad. And sincerely since it is all about genuine food and superlative quality, if we made a convention, we will risk offending the restaurateurs and depriving you of the choice of all excellent dishes! Anyway, after this tour, you would advise all your acquaintances to do it, you will get sensations, smells and feelings that will remain impressed for a long time! Do you think that some American, Canadian and German gentlemen wanted information to buy a second holiday home in these places! We are talking about the new TUSCANY! Don't miss it
