You can eat very well—and very cheaply—in Taipei. The restaurants may not look posh, but the quality of the food is superlative. And there’s a huge variety of restaurants—in addition to local Taiwanese specialties, you’ll find regional cuisines from all over China, as well as great Indian, Japanese and even Italian options. Just make sure to leave some room for snacks—street-vendor food here is addictive.

The replica of the Temple of Heaven adjoins the Botanical Gardens. Anyone who has visited Beijing will instantly recognize it. It is intended to be an architectural blending of East and West. It now serves a useful purpose.

The twentieth-century collection housed at this art museum nestles chronologically between the ancient works in the National Palace Museum and the new works in the Institute of Contemporary Arts.
When the Fine Arts Museum opened in 1983, it was a cause for great joy among art lovers. Initially, it sought to develop modern art appreciation in Taiwan, revealing many works that had not previously been seen, such as Modernist art from the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945). Many of the paintings were in Impressionist style, and were quite beautiful. As the Museum developed its collection, it sought to enhance a cross fertilization between Taiwan and foreign artists. Some of the visiting exhibitions are interesting. Although the Fine Arts Museum has had its share of controversies, it is a boon to Taipei's art lovers.

The Museum of Contemporary Arts (MOCA), Taipei fills a gap in Taipei's artistic offering. It's more contemporary than modern. The Museum has a number of intallations, varying from time to time. The building dates from the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945). Following Retrocession, it housed the Tapei City Goverment. It later housed MOCA. There are free audio guides and group tours. MOCA is closed on Monday. Best access is by MRT, Zhongshan Station, Red or Green Lines

National Museum of History began operation in 1955. For more than six decades, we have been working to provide the most updated and innovative service. Beginning on 2 July 2018, the Museum will be closed for a complete overhaul for about three years. We will renovate and reorganize the museum building, service function, and administration. We aim to provide elevated and enhanced service quality and administrative efficiency when we reopen to the public. “See you again in a promising future.” We apologize for not being able to serve you and your friends in this duration.
This little museum is right next to the Botanical Gardens is is perhaps one of the less popular museums in Taipei. The exhibit is a wealth of wonder and historical value. Very much interesting to see artifacts dating BC and the rich contribution to culture and history. The gift shop is a must visit place too.

Welcome Samyama is delighted to welcome all who are interested in beauty and a healthy lifestyle. This company which deals primarily in rare antique textiles and exquisite rare crystals from around the world, was established by John Ang in July of 2011. It recently moved to a new location in one of Taipei's most fashionable districts and is located on the second floor above Julia Boutique. The word Samyama is Indian Sanskrit and is derived from ancient yoga spiritual practice. It means concentration, meditation and liberation. With this name it is hoped that items and services provided by Samyama can help capture your mind for concentration, still your heart for meditation and expand your wisdom for liberation. This is clearly in line with Samyama's mission which is to provide collectors with art that is not just decorative but also has spiritual value and can help in providing for a better, happier and healthier lifestyle. Besides art, Samyama also provides consultancy services in food, travel and yoga. Samyama is delighted to welcome you to visit its gallery on the second floor of this building to gain a unique spiritual experience created by the many beautiful things on display.
