This is an ancient volcano so do not expect Mountains or wisps of smoke from imminent eruptions that you see on films and TV. It is also about a 2.5 hour car ride from Ta'if.
But when you get there, it is a pretty amazing sight. There is minimal development (a car park, building and rim edge shelters) but that is it. There are no signs or information.
It is highly recommended to take the trail down to the crater floor. Look to the far left when you first arrive at the rim and you will see a white building. That is where the path starts, but there are no direction arrows. Reckon on 45 minutes going down, and 1 hour coming back up. The trail is hair-raising in places (more like clinging to the rock face) but you get a totally different perspective on the crater when you descend in to it.
It is also highly recommended to visit the nearby lava fields. Its only a 10 minute drive away but well worth a look. Turn on satellite view on Google maps and head for the big black ribbon near the crater.

Although it is not my first time to take the cable car at Taif, I still am so excited to give it a shot for the second time after almost 5 years.
Too many things have changed in this attraction most specially the resort/swimming area.
For the first time, I tried riding the Toboggan. It was one hell of a ride though. It was just a fun ride and would definitely try it again soon as I am back in Taif.

I am new in Taif City and my new found friends took me to Joury Mall for dinner. There are lots of vacant stalls awaiting occupancy. Even the food court has very McDonalds to mention a few. The toilets were immaculately clean just like the floor tiles. Short pants are not allowed though we saw quite a few sporting them.

Shubra Palace is a museum in Taif. The building was completed in 1325 AH and the construction took 3 years. King Abdul-Aziz lived in the palace and King Faisal used it as a headquarters for the council of ministry of defense and aviation.
Guided tours are available here. However, bear in mind that this place is not wheelchair-friendly and you will need to go up the stairs in order to have a complete tour of the museum. The toilet also lacked water supply.
Overall tour of this museum should take 15 minutes max.

We stopped at this place with not very high expectations but we actually had a really good time. There was a mini circus that was kind of funny and had actual lions! I loved the boat rides. The highlight of this place was the toboggan! It was simply amazing and extremely well maintained!

This is a gem of a museum. Don't expect stuffy exhibits and information to read, but instead this is a collection of everything from Arabic home living crammed into a series of rooms that are decorated like local houses. It's brilliant, and you must stay attentive in case you miss a little gem.
A brilliant part of the museum is the Arabic street life experience. Because we were part of an organised group, the owner had locals dress the part and occupy the shops so it looked and sounded like it was 'back in the day'.
It was a shame we were on a tight schedule as another hour in this quite large museum would have been well spent.

A former largest and best known open air market in the islamic world, nowadays hosts thousands of tourists from around the world. The tradition of poetry recital competitions, arts& crafts Exhibitions remain in the souq today. In addition to that, you may want to explore ancient footprints of the market, flower orchids in Taif and modern theatre productions in the Festival centre.
One of the must see list here in taif..its about 30kms from down town . long walkway they call it aljadeh. And many stores in both sides.
You can see a theatre in both side ends..many traditional things.. And also show rooms some ministries..and future vision for TAIF CITY.

I accidentally stumbled on Anoud Park while taking a leisurely walk from Al Barraq Hotel where I booked a room for three nights upon arrival in Taif City. The Park was empty when I visited around 6am. It is a good place where to catch some fresh air in the middle of the city. I guess children and families frequent this park during the weekends and school holidays.
