Old Town

Reviewed By emohd - Oman, null

This place is breathtaking! It fronts the river/lake and has a lot of small shops and eateries. If you need a break from the typical touristy places like castles, museums and souvenir shops, this town is just 15-20 minutes away from Budapest and can be reached by taxi. For 4 people you are better off taking a taxi rather than getting a tour guide as it is a popular destination and people are friendly to help you get you a taxi or show you directions. Szentendre bursts at the charming cobbled streets with plenty of art galleries and independent craft shops. The town is filled with surprising alleys and you can climb all the way up to see its overall view at your own pace; taking your time by stopping to enjoy ice-cream, coffee or a beautiful painting or work of art. A must see if you are in Budapest especially if you wish to run away from the hustle bustles of a city.

Little Hungarian village which is extremely attractive with the colorful umbrellas hanging in one of the streets and the beautifully decorated shops with unique things to buy like some gorgeous scarves, very cute pencils of all shapes and sizes, toys, Budapest wine miniatures, crochet table tops. The main square has some colorful lamp shades hanging, ice cream shops, coffee shops. A short excursion to Szentendre is a gud idea from the hustle and bustle of Budapest which has btw, horrible traffic.
