Namibia's largest coastal town is a huge draw for merrymakers and vacationers from all over the globe. This seaside resort showcases its German origins in its European-style colonial architecture, creating a jarring juxtaposition against the landscape of the Namib desert. Sandboard or motorbike the dunes, dine and imbibe in a picturesque restaurant on the waterfront, or just marvel at the unusual birds and plants that populate the region.

TLDR; this is a tremendous experience for the adventurous traveler; if you have an open mindset about meeting new people, enjoy hiking and the outdoors, and don't mind an occasionally rough ride, this is an incredible trip and well worth your time. Having never traveled outside the US, I wanted to go big on my first solo trip with the 62-day excursion from Pretoria to Nairobi. Since it was such an extensive trip, I was looking for the most value for my time, based on price, activities, and safety. I backpack often, so beyond basic comfort was not a priority for me, which turned out to be a good mindset to adopt since we camped nearly the entire trip, & rode in a truck with no AC (Namibia gets hot!). Tip - be ready to retrieve the rain fly for your tent during unexpected 3 AM rain showers! However, nearly all of the sites we stayed at had the option to upgrade from camping to comfortable indoor accommodations, which was a nice option to take advantage of occasionally. Once we reached our site for the night, we began our daily rotating duties, which included helping to cook, clean the truck, and do dishes, which I think added to the experience and helped bond our fellow tourists. Traveling solo, I felt safe at all times with our guides, drivers, and locations. My trip was split between two guides, Crispen, then Pete, and they were great company that looked out for us and kept us safe and informed about everything around us. Our guides were familiar with the paths and knew everyone at our destinations. Nothing surprised them. Our drivers were impressive as well, with Harmony and Francis keeping us safe on the often-tumultuous African roads. Navigating both urban and off-road environments in our trucks was no easy task, and Francis even proved his mechanic skills during the occasional break-down. The variety of locations we stayed at were simply incredible. From Cape Town to the deserts of Namibia, the Okavango Delta to Zanzibar Island, the mixture of urban and remote landscapes couldn't have been better. We saw every animal you can imagine. On a trip like this, an open mindset is key. Traveling for two months with strangers can go any number of ways, but due to this trip, I now have lifelong friends scattered across the globe that I can't wait to visit. This wasn't just a vacation, it was a lasting, eye-opening experience that I believe everyone should try if possible. I can't recommend this trip enough. I wish I could go back to January and do it all over again.

Explore Swakopmund with your private tour guide. Swakopmund is a German settlement on the coast of Namibia from the 1892's to just before the first world war. Situated 30km north of Walvis Bay in the mouth of the Swakop river, this town has really beautiful surroundings. Gaze at the majestic dune belt along the way to Swakopmund, with a short visit to Dune 7 where you can touch and see the sand up close. Once in Swakopmund, as you have a wide variety of things to do. You can choose between the Railway Station, the Steam Tractor "Martin Luther", the Swakopmund museum at the lighthouse, or the Krystall Gellerie, home of the largest quartz crystal. Local Experirnce in Swakopmund ,Mondesa was the exiled neighborhood where blacks were sidelined during apartheid , while whites and rich were concentrated in the city center. Although the system of racial segregation was abolished in 1991, it is still possible today to observe the traces of this dark part of history. You will stroll through the streets of Mondesa, discovering its culture. You will see the kindness of the people, who will not hesitate to welcome you and invite you to taste one of their craft beers or some of their typical dishes , such as mopane worms (grilled caterpillars). During the visit, you can enjoy other traditional dishes, so that your cultural immersion is complete. In addition, you can interact with locals and immerse yourself in the heart of African culture and history. You will have the opportunity to learn a few words in khoe-khoe , the local language, and understand the meaning of the term " buntu" . Do you know why he is so important today in Africa?
Inclusions: We do provide lunch or dinner depending on the tour you have chosen as if you do the morning tour this will be lunch but for afternoon tour will be dinner

We were tired from extensive touring (three travelers) and thought of skipping this township visit. Are we glad we decided to join Nande Junia's 1/2 day explorer tour! Our guide was kind, informative, and had planned an interesting visit to one of Namibia's townships. "Township" being the local explanation in Africa for a town/village of minimally economic development. For the poorest citizens, basically with outdoor plumbing, very small living area, and few services. Here in Namibia, in this community, we discovered that Swakopmund was well maintained and harbored many interesting sights. Entrepreneurship all around, from the ladies who taught "clicking" to tourists to the a capella choir, singing for us during our homemade lunch in another house, we spent 4 hours being captivated by this slice of Africa. I recommend heartily this tour group. First-class all the way.

we did a 1 week safari with blue cran in the north of namibia. our tour took us over the erongo mountains, the etosha national park and the waterberg to düsternbrook. We stayed in 4 different lodges. it was a wonderful safari. we saw the big 5 up close and so four other wild animals, incredibly beautiful. our guide Sammy is a very personable person and he simply had a feel for where the animals were. besides the names of the animals, sammy also told us in detail about their habits. Our jeep was technically in perfect condition and so we really enjoyed the more than 1000 km driven distance. Blue crane's boss, Derek, is also very personable. Finally, he drove us to the airport. So, I can only highly recommend blue crane. top guide, top equipment. everything was fine. always happy with blue crane.

An early start and a drive to the base of Pelican Point Kayaking. We met our guide and the rest of our group there. The drive to beach includes a drive through the salt pans and our guide gave us some background on the area. The pans are beautiful and were one of the reasons we chose Namibia as a holiday destination. We brought waterproof jackets with us as advised and you’ll be glad you did as you will get a little wet out there. You’ll get changed into some waterproofs and be given a life vest. I’m not the happiest of people on or in the water but the whole setup is designed to make you feel relaxed and excited about getting onto the water. When you are out there the seals are super friendly and inquisitive. They’ll come over for a closer look and a bite of your paddle! You’ll spend an hour or so on the water and then come back to land for a bite to eat. Seeing all the seals together on the beach is pretty cool and looks very much like the documentaries you might watch. On the drive back to the base loads of animals were pointed out to us and we drove a little off road to get a closer look at some of them. Fantastic first morning of our trip and I’m so glad that we did it!

Certainly the best trip of my life. Chameleon ensured that we saw the best of Namibia. I was personally in awe of Namibia's astonishing and mesmerising beauty. We had the best guide 'Tulimo with the best smile' who became a dear friend by the end. Effortlessly, he would find us the big5 on game drives, would take us through the beautiful history of Himba a people and climb with us to big daddy dune. Not just that but he was also a great cook and so fun to be around. Surprisingly, the camps and lodges were so luxurious and comfy. The transport was big and spacious for our group of 7-8 people, and in them I Met the most amazing group of people and made best friends for life. I am coming back for sure and I highly recommend Chameleon. They are the best! ????
