Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site on Dorchester Road in Summerville is a well preserved colonial experience that is a worth a visit. I like the self guided tour that they have available and all of the information stations that they have at different stops. You are able to imagine what everything looked like 300 years ago. This is something that can be fully visited quickly if you would like or you can stay longer and have a picnic by the river.

Summerville Dorchester Museum

This is a small, low-tech but beloved chunk of Summerville and its storied past. Come here when you have a little time so you can enjoy being walked around by one of the dedicated and knowledgeable docents (who most likely is also a bit of a character). A wonderful way to learn about Summerville’s history and rub elbows with long-established locals.

I had another excellent meal at The Icehouse. Food is always fresh and cooked as requested. This time I had the small Filet again with a side salad and mashed potatoes. They also have a good Happy Hour too.

I literally just left the store after attending Sewing With Sue. I’ve loved this quilting store for years and have always stopped there during my annual visit to Summerville from Pittsburgh. I’ve always purchased multiple quilt kits there but my work schedule inhibited my getting them started. I’m here for a longer stay and decided I would attend this group which is one where Sue assists you with projects you may be working on and helps you get on track. I can’t say enough about Sue as she is so calm and just helps you focus and gave me many tips about making the quilting process easier. I’ve attended both the Wednesday and today’s Friday class. The group is so nice and supportive. I can’t say enough. Sue - you are one of those special people we cross paths with and I’m so glad I did. If you are I the Charleston area and quilt or would like to, this is a must do!

Love going to the Summerville Farmers Market; they always have such a great variety of fresh fruits & veggies, local honey, great home-cooked items, crafts and more! It's so wonderful to see so many locals out supporting our local growers, crafters & more in the community!
