The Farm

Reviewed By WallyO48 - Arlington Heights, United States

If you have kids or not , the Farm is a must stop for fun for all ! Baby goats,& baby lambs are all over the area as you walk out of the milk barn with your baby bottle of milk ! Tip , get there before 1030 am as they usually cut off the milk bottle feeding before noon !!! Don't bother with the bags of corn because you will be surrounded by baby goats for that bottle of milk in your hand when you walk out of the milk barn !!! Tip: If you are a couple go into the entrance a couple minutes apart ! Reason being they ration the coupons one per group for the milk ! No coupon no milk, in the milk barn! These baby goats will drink that bottle of milk so fast it will amaze you and the kids ! They have all sorts of other attractions like incubator with hatching chicks, adult goats and sheep, hen house ,and a Brahma bull all behind enclosed areas for each ! Make sure your phone is charged & camera ready to go ! Have fun , I know your kids will !

Lovely state park with beach access near protected sand dunes. There are multiple hiking paths, all of which are hilly, past dunes and through woods or wildflower fields. Lots of birds and insects to observe. A lovely park for a walk, job or run. So Much Poison Ivy! But if you stay on the trails, you will be fine.

Door County Maritime Museum

Where Great Lakes maritime history comes alive! Located along Sturgeon Bay’s working waterfront, the Door County Maritime Museum showcases the area’s rich maritime roots. The museum features several interactive exhibits, as well as tours of the immaculately restored seagoing tugboat John Purves. Hard-working fishermen, brave ship captains, skilled craftsmen, bold inventors and lonely lighthouse keepers are just some of the personalities you’ll discover in the galleries of the museum.

This is a wonderful museum with some history of the town's contributions to the ship building industry and contributions to the war effort WWII. Plan to spend at least a couple of hours to take it all in. If you are lucky enough to be able to take a tour of the tug John Purvess, I would jump on it. Special thanks to Executive Director Osgood for taking time to conduct a non-scheduled tour of the tug John Purvess!!!! The museum is in safe hands with him.

Dairy View

Schopf's Hilltop Dairy is a Door County family fun stop that's both educational and entertaining. You are invited to learn all about the Wisconsin dairy industry at Door County's largest dairy farm by experiencing it first-hand. Take everyone on a free, working dairy tour. Watch the ongoing milking operations, milk "Cookie" the cow and then taste the end result - 30 flavors of homemade ice cream in the Dairy View Country Store Ice Cream Parlor. Enjoy the Dairy View Corn Maze each year, usually open from late summer through the end of October! Each year a new corn maze is designed around a theme. You can expect to be in the maze for approximately 2 hours of engaging fun. There is a small admission fee for the corn maze.

Reviewed By Baxman

This is a great stop that is conveniently located just off of 42. The highlight is either the corn maze (opens August 1st each year) or watching the cows being milked. There is a viewing area behind glass that offers a unique view of the dairy in operation. You can get a close up view of the cows being milked. There is no fee for the self guided tour or watching the cows. Ice cream was reasonably priced. There are even a few goats that can be fed for a $1 for a small bag of feed. As other reviews have also noted, there is only one unisex bathroom so lines can potentially be long. Besides the bathroom situation this is a great stop that kids and most adults would enjoy.
