Storm Lake is a city in Buena Vista County, Iowa, United States. The population was 10,600 in the 2010 census, an increase from 10,076 in the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Buena Vista County. Storm Lake is home to Buena Vista University, originally Buena Vista College. Tyson Foods operates a large hog slaughterhouse, meat packing plant, and turkey processing plant in Storm Lake.

Storm Lake United is the Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Center and Area Development Center for the City of Storm Lake. We are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

With the purchase of four animated elves in 1962, Santa's Castle began acquiring one of the largest displays of antique, animated Christmas characters. The collection is on display in Storm Lake's historic Carnegie Library, delighting kids of all ages.
