South Jersey SUP provides stand up paddle boarding lessons, rentals, sales, and training in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. Join us on the water to learn the basics of stand up paddle boarding, to take a back bay eco tour on the Intracoastal waterways of Stone Harbor, or to rent a board and experience the great flat water that South Jersey has to offer. Our water launch location is located on 114th street and the bay in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. There is an unmetered parking lot next to our launch site and free street parking along the adjacent roads if the lot is full. This area is secluded from most boat traffic and well protected from the wind and tidal currents. This area provides great flat water for beginners to find their balance and learn how to paddle, while experienced paddlers can follow our one and a half to two mile long eco tour route which wraps around Sedge Island and the back bays of Stone Harbor. Stand Up Paddleboarding, often abbreviated as 'SUP', is one of the fastest growing sports because it is as simple as it is fun. You'll be hooked the first time you stand up and see 'what sup' on the water.

The Skimmer is a 40 foot pontoon boat built for eco-tours in the calm waters of the back bay wetlands. Cape May County is one of the best locations in the U.S. to observe birds and their migrations. The salt marsh is home to an incredible number of species both above and below the waterline and we can share it all with you. Our Captains and Naturalists are experienced professionals who can explain things in a way so nature lovers of all levels will understand. Stone Harbor Location: Trips leave from The Wetlands Institute. We encourage our guests to visit there as well and make a day out of it. From mid June to late August, trips leave from this location on Tuesday afternoons/evenings through Thursday afternoons. Call or go online for more info or to make a reservation. When we're not in Stone Harbor, we run cruises from The South Jersey Marina in Cape May. Call or go online for more info or to make a reservation.

Tatham Life Saving Station is one of the sites featured in the New Jersey Lighthouse Challenge. I'm unsure about regular open house hours. However, this is a good place to stop and learn about the history of the Jersey shore and take in a great view of the ocean and bird sanctuary in Stone Harbor.

Avalon and Stone Harbor are the two towns on this barrier island.
Avalon/Stone Harbor Beaches rate among the very best of New Jersey beaches, and actually along the entire Atlantic Ocean. I have been on beaches in every state from Massachusetts to Florida. Seven Mile Beach is definitely among the best 2-3.
