The Old Town, unsurprisingly, is the oldest part of Stockholm. It's certainly the tourist's go-to destination, but that doesn’t detract from its architectural and otherwise urban beauty.
Cobble streets, quirky nooks and crannies, good mix of shops bars, cafes and beautiful buildings and museums, we stayed within Gamla Stan and very glad we did, easy access from there to everywhere and lots of museums worth walking to nearby. Definitely worth trying to stay within Gamla Stan area. We stayed in small scandic hotel which was located just at one end of Gamla Stan.

The Vasa ship capsized and sank in Stockholm 1628. After 333 years on the seabed the mighty warship was salvaged and the voyage could continue. Today Vasa is the world's only preserved 17th century ship.
The museography is spectacular, you feel the power of such migthy war ship from the 1600's - you will be amazed the moment you enter the museum and see the Vasa for the first time - Unforgettable. And also if you are traveling with kids DO NOT MISS THIS MUSEUM

Please note: Due to the situation concerning covid-19, we only have our large experiment park and the new, temporary exhibition Dinosauria open at the moment. Our house is temporarily closed. We allow a limited number of visitors per day. Please note that you need to to pre-purchase you tickets before you arrive. Starting 17/8, our opening hours are Friday-Sunday 10:00-17:00. We have four floors and a park (open May-September) with experiments that children, teenagers and adults can enjoy. The experiments tempt us into learning a little bit more about technology, physics, maths, geography, biology, how people work, illusions, and much, much more.

The Stockholm City Hall is one of Sweden's most famous buildings, and one of the capital's most visited tourist attractions. It houses offices for 200 people including the Municipal Council, and is also famous for its grand ceremonial halls and unique art pieces. The Stockholm City Hall is the venue of the Nobel Prize banquet held on 10 December each year. Between May and September, the City Hall Tower offers a breathtaking view of Stockholm.
There are two separate tours you can take at Stockholm City Hall (Stadshuset). They have separate entrances and separate prices. The tower tour entrance is on the left when inside the vilify hall courtyard and facing the lake. The city hall tour entrance is on the right. Both tours are worth taking but we enjoyed the tour of the tower the most. There are 365 steps to the tower viewing area. It is a very interesting and enjoyable climb, mostly up ramps that go up in a square shape, through brick walled corridors with triangular brick ceilings, around the perimeter walls of the tower. There are also some stairs and the option of an elevator to take you part of the way up. The 360 degree views from the viewing platform are spectacular. You get fantastic views of Gamla Stan and Riddarholmen. Tours are timed and one group must leave the platform before the next comes up. The main part of city hall is only accessible via paid guided tour. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and interesting. It is best to avoid Saturdays for tours as some areas are closed for multiple weddings on that day. The highlights are the huge Blue Room (which isn’t blue), the council chambers, the Prince’s Gallery (with beautiful frescoes) and the over-the-top Golden Hall with its elaborate gold mosaics depicting Swedish history.

ABBA The Museum is more than an ordinary museum. Naturally, the members’ costumes, gold records, original items, memorabilia, and much, much more are here. But at this museum you are an important part of the experience! We simply want you to experience the feeling of being the 5th ABBA member. To find out what you would look like in their legendary stage costumes, to sing at the Polar Studio, to experience exciting 3D avatars, and to enter the stage together with the band.
You don't need to be a superfan to really enjoy a visit here. A wealth of really good and personal to the band members material here well laid out with good background notes etc. Terrific interactive opportunities too. 11 out of 10 in anyone's money.

There are dozens of islands in the archipelago accessible by ferry from Stockholm, and most of them have tons of vacation homes on them. I chose Grinda because it is a nature preserve, which means that visitors can wander anywhere. There is an inn, a couple restaurants, a campground, and rental cottages -- but there are no stores or commerce. This island is for people who like hiking, exploring, and lounging (I considered the water too cold for swimming). It's hard to get lost because the island is only about a mile long. I took Waxholmsbolaget ferries, which stop at tons of islands on the way. I left Stockholm at 8:15 AM, and took the return ferry from Grinda at 4:20 PM. Their site is only in Swedish, but not hard to use once you get the hang of it.

This is one of the largest mall in Stockholm and it does not disappoint. There are abundant stores for all types (women, men, children, teenagers, sporty, etc). They have a variety selection of restaurants and cafes to choose from and as a mother with a 10 month baby, I was most impressed and surprisingly pleased with the ‘baby lounges’ available. There were changing stations ;fully equipped with mat, changing paper, diaper bins, water, soap & paper towels. From there is a lounge area with a mini kitchen with a table , chairs and microwaves. To top that, they also have private cubicles complete with an armchair and hooks to hang your bags and a space big enough to wheel your pram in, where mothers can breast feed in tranquility. We were at the mall for a good 5hrs and had not even covered all the stores. Definitely a shoppers paradise.
