A ski town that is also an authentic ranching center, Steamboat Springs is more down home than glitzy. Cowboy hats and ski boots are equally welcome on the city's friendly streets. The place where downhill skiing first flourished in the United States, Steamboat Springs remains a premiere slopes destination. But the town also offers outdoor recreation of every stripe and season. And after a long day hiking, schussing or shopping, you can relax in one of the natural hot springs for which the town was named.

Remote, scenic area near the northern Colorado border popular for fishing, hiking and whitewater rafting.
50 minute drive from Steamboat; park and hike to Lake Gilpen. Expect 5-6 hours round trip but well worth the experience! There are many other trails connected and nearby.

Since we opened our doors in 1990, we have been Steamboat's largest full service bookstore and the locals' favorite meeting place for Good Books, Good Coffee and Good Friends. What about our store? We are a full service, independent bookstore, with extensive collections of current literature, fiction, history and memoirs, young adults. We feature a large children’s collection, and our famous treehouse reading space where our youngest children can escape. Our café serves the best coffee drinks in town, pastries, Big Train drinks, smoothies, soups and salads for lunch, and wine in the evening. We are pleased to be serving Storm Mountain Coffee, roasted locally in Oak Creek.
I visited here with my daughter (then 12 years old) more than 15 years ago, and she still remembers the yummy pastries and the wonderful book selection. We went back again this week (together) and it really hasn’t changed much at all. Be sure to visit the used book section upstairs - lots of best-sellers and classics at bargain prices. Interestingly, we were there during the start of the coronavirus outbreak, and the bookstore asked all patrons to wash their hands in the restroom before handling any merchandise, I appreciated that extra care.

Great experience. Maureen was a great instructor for a first timer like my wife, and equally helpful for a more intermediate shooter such as my self. We’ll be back for sure.

Come play with us! Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball is a public tennis facility located in the mountain area of Steamboat Springs, adjacent to the base of the Wildhorse Gondola (the smaller gondola.) Our facility offers both indoor and outdoor courts - including 3 outdoor hydrocourt clay courts, 5 outdoor hard tennis courts, 6 RSS 500 cushioned indoor hard tennis courts and eight outdoor Pickleball courts. We have demo rackets, a pro shop, and offer private and group instruction. We can also set up games for you while you are visiting. In 2011, the Tennis Center at Steamboat Springs was named the USTA National Tennis Facility of the Year.
As a local, I feel so lucky to have this great facility staffed with very friendly people. I take regular drills with Sean Pummil, who is a great instructor. His wife Marcy is also excellent. Keep coming! We will have a special new building for Pickleball soon, so keep checking us out!

These guys are great. I demo'd a pair of skis that I ended up buying. The whole process was seamless and everyone took great care in getting it done. A boot fitter was also able to make some adjustments to my boot. Great team.

Was in Steamboat on a guys weekend ski trip. Hadn't skied in over 30 years, staff was super friendly, helpful and FUN! None of that I'm cooler than you judgement stuff. Online ordering was simple (and saved me a bunch of $$). Definitely the place to pick up skis, and the fact you can return them on the mountain or in the village is awesome. Thanks a ton, Christie Sports! I'll be back for sure!
