Our Probus Club came here for morning tea first before having a great lecture and then a guided tour of the museum. Facinating place with so much history.

This is an impressive building and a historical church. Best of all is the lovely Reverend Susan, and the people who make up the congregation. Third Saturday of every month, the church members operate a Pop-Up shop in the church hall. This involves a great deal of work over several days. There are church members who bring their special skills to this enterprise, and you can see that love, care and talent in abundance goes into the shop. The shop sells good quality second hand clothing, bric a brac, books, jewellery, hats, bags, shoes, fabric, craft items, vintage articles. There is also a table of donated plant cuttings, fruit and vegetables that are free. Members of the congregation also provide morning tea, which is available for a donation. All the goodies in the shop are donated, so stock on the day is what has been gifted to the church, and all monies raised go to charities. The shop opens at 9 am to 12 md. Sales are in cash.

Stawell Gold Mine is the largest gold mining operation in Victoria. The mine is renowned (ambiguously) for being the hottest mine in Australia. The Gold mining operations in Stawell have been in operation more recently since the first owners commenced in the eighties. The current owners are Crocodile Mining and have several other mines. The Gold mine has a large viewing area along Reefs Road that runs alongside the portal that enters the mine and continues for approx. 2-3 kilometres in many different directions under the city of Stawell. The observation area has a commentary device activated by visitors to the attraction and visitors can observe the large mining machinery working the mine and also listen to the mining history in Stawell (since 1870's). There are many facets to the visitor area including a heavy bar that repesents the wieght of a REAL gold ingot bar (similar to those poured at the mine in the foundry). The mine at times offers observation tours to SOME areas of the mine IF the request is reasonable and can be negotiated with the owners/administration of the mining operations.
