Located in the State of Goiás, 250 km (about 150 miles) from Brasília and 500 Km (about 300 miles) from Goiânia.
Unique National Park set in the Brazilian Cerrado Bioma, with bushy scrubs and grasslands, with many beautiful waterfalls, spectacular mainly during the rainy season (December - March). Enjoy the waterfalls and their pools while the red/green macaus fly over you in pairs against a fantastic blue sky.

We had a 4-night stay at a Pousada just outside the park. Unfortunately we were not able to stay at Pousada de Gloria so it sounds like we really missed out! Camping would have been a viable option as the camp ground looked very pleasant. We were driven there by our excellent tour company Gasparetour which is based in Cuiaba. In turn they arranged for Nelio Carrijo to be our local guide. It was well worth employing him as he loves the Park and knew where best to see the giant anteater and armadillo. He also had with him at all times a box of treats for celebrations! Our only mild concern was that, in his enthusiasm, he did get a bit too close to the giant anteater. The Gasparetour guides are more careful & ultimately get you better photography opportunities. That said Nelio is a lovely man & has excellent wildlife knowledge & excellent relations with the park's staff. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. EMAS is a very special park, full of blue & yellow macaws, boring owls & 'flickers' woodpeckers. The bioluminescence was enchanting and the overall experience, far away from the crowds, something to treasure. Shhh! It's our secret!
