Just visit this old church to see what can be done. The library is here, an entertainment space and coffee shop on the upstairs floor which has been inserted. View the stained glass windows and stone work without a crick in your neck. There was also an exhibition of art by local artists.

Westport Lake Visitor Centre

Reviewed By Magdalena76th - Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom

My partner and I visit this lovely lake year-round, but found it just so uplifting and refreshing today... It is such a well-maintained park with safe and stable walking paths, pretty views and some wonderful wildlife to be seen, even in winter. The Visitor Centre is mostly dedicated to a well appointed cafe with more lovely views of the lake. The Trent and Mersey Canal runs alongside for some distance and there are usually plenty of pretty narrow boats travelling along it, or moored nearby. If you have children to entertain the playground is well-maintained as well and as it's fenced it is safe for children of all ages, alongside it you'll find an open space which is perfect for kicking around a football, playing catch or flying a kite! There is a hire centre by the lake which provides wheelchairs for people with special needs, too... I believe there were once mines and buildings here, the only sign of the industrial past today are the bottle ovens on the horizon and the fascinating derelict buildings if you chose to walk along the canal tow path... Highly recommended to people of all ages!
