We did a section of the Trent and Mersey Canel whilst doing the Chesire Ring for two weeks in June. The best part was going through Harecastle Tunnel both ways.

Walked the remaining sections of the Cauldon Canal after the Covid-19 lockdown. Continuing our walk at Stockton Brook and it's deep locks it continues through to sleepy Endon past the boat yard and into the beautiful Staffordshire Moorland countryside. Then onto Denford where it branches off separately to Leek and Froghall Wharf branches. If you take the Leek branch it takes you over the Froghall Wharf branch by aqueduct (quite spectacular engernering) and mehanders it's way then through Longsdon to Leek, not forgetting the passage through the Leek tunnel. The Froghall Wharf branch takes you past the Holly Bush canalside Inn, onto Cheddleton - past it's historical Flint Mill and Steam Railway. Then the scenery becomes rather spectacular and beautiful. A river section incorporating the River Churnet and running alongside the Consall steam railway. Churnet Valley scenery all the way which is glorious. Onto Froghall Wharf, not forgetting the narrow Froghall tunnel before. Then hitting the end at the basin. A marvolous canal walk to be sampled by all.

Westport lake is a lovely place to go for a stroll when you need a break from work and stress! Good paths for walking, running and cycling. Wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Small pool and larger lake, plenty of wildlife to see. There’s also a wooded section with breeding pool, this is harder to access for some. Great cafe on site with a balcony overlooking the water. If you’re lucky you can catch the oatcake boat on the canal!

This nature reserve is truly beautiful. There is much to see and we spotted some great-spotted woodpeckers on the bird feeders which was delightful; we saw green woodpeckers and reed buntings sitting in the reeds. Amazing to see the birds up close and amazing to see them feeding out of your hand if you’re lucky. Not just birds to see though: we spotted a rat beside the river and a miniscule mouse in the woodland. If you are looking for a place for a calm relaxing walk THIS is the place. Also, the walkways are very clear but advise you to bring wellies on a muddy wet day. Lovely to see such are wide range of wildlife around this area and nice to see the wildlife in this fresh, clean area of land which is kept by the kind, helpful RSPB helpers around this ground. DEFINITELY coming back back and I advise you to because it is a truly wonderful place to see wildlife up close.

Great place to meet up and walk around. There are 2 walks, one of 1.5 miles and the other, 4.5 miles approximately. We chose the longer one as it was a decent afternoon and it took us about 1.5 hours at a gentle place. Quite a few steps and climbs but some beautiful scenery. Plenty of car parking at £3 for 2 hours or £5 all day. We didn’t use the visitors centre at all.

Visited on a very hog day, the short walk from the car park (train station) to the dam was nice and shaded path was easy to walk and cycle. Once at the dam we used the toilets which her clean and paid a visit to the ice cream shop the lake was beautiful the kids had fun paddling about unfortunately we didn't take our paddle board as we only visited on the way back from somewhere else but we would definitely go back and pay the £10 to launch our paddle board and spend the whole day.

Drove up from Liverpool with hubby and friends. Had a lovely walk around the reservoir, found the Well and the Wardens Tower. Great for families and dog walking. Peaceful and beautiful.

We walked from Caldon canal in Hanley Park towards festival park via the canal. This root takes you right to the junction of Caldon canal and the Mersey and trent canal. Excellent walk.
