We absolutely love stopping at St James Beach whenever we're cruising along the False Bay coast. After walking through the tunnel under the St James railway line, we're always amazed by the beauty and colour that greets us, and we always leave there with a beautiful and colourful gallary at the end of the day. We travel all over the Cape and live for those photo opportunities, and at St James they are all over. The atmosphere is always vibey with many families around and our kids love the rock and tidal pools. It's safe and I especially appreciate the presence of lifeguards. I would recommend visiting on a beautiful sunny day at low tide, in the late afternoon when the sun further illuminates the colourful and historical bathing huts, and other beachgoers are starting to make their way home. St. James gets pretty busy during the Summer days. Tip: Take a stroll further on to Kalk Bay and take time to explore numerous boutiques, markets, galleries and shops along the way.
