YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN PRODUCTS WITH US, WE WILL TRAIN YOU We bring the 100% virgin cotton row yarn and do the manual dyeing with fire woods according to the our own colour palette. We dry those yarn hanks on natural air , which you can see during the factory tour. Then we do the yarn preparation in order to fix the wood manual hand loom machine. Then we put that set of yarn layer in to the hand loom machine and we weave the 100% cotton custom made fabric which we can’t find anywhere in the world.

Chandana, the owner, is an extremely hard worker that took over the business from his parents. Definitely a place you should visit when in Galle. It's a great place to see how the beautiful fabrics are made and buy at extremely low prices compared to the shops in Galle Fort.

Handloom material is as the name suggests hand woven through rather complicated looking wooden looms. The industry which was threatened at times is now in full resurgence thanks to ever growing demand for its subtle designs and pastel shades. Their texture is perfect for the warm climates of these parts and soft to the touch, not to mention, being elegant and stately in a truly Sri Lankan sense.

This was my third trip to Sri Lanka and buying tea had always been difficult for me - until visiting the Tea House in Matara. The place is located a bit remotely - about 2.5km from Matara bus stand/Fort and 3.5km from Matara station. I actually enjoyed the walk along Old Tangalle Road, but if walking is not your thing, you'll need a TukTuk. The choice of Tea is not huge, but well selected. You will neither get crappy tea with a fancy name, nor pay excessive tourist prices (those had been my major issues with buying tea so far). Manoj, who runs the shop, is a very friendly and patient person - and he knows his teas. After roughly describing what I was looking for, he came up with some really good recommendations. Even found a Soursop Green Tea for my girlfriend who had to stay back home this time and was nearly crying about missing her favourite fruit. :)

Very interesting visit with a very welcoming and kind Sri Lankan working in the tea factory. He explained us all the different processes and variety of tea. We really enjoyed this visit. After that you can seat and rest at the terrace and get a complimentary tea.
