In Spencer, I went to Saint Joseph's Abbey to buy some Trappist fruit spreads direct from the source. The gift shop was right at the entrance to the abbey grounds.
I bought one jar each of Trappist Blackberry Seedless Jam, Trappist Damson Plum Jam, and Trappist Quince Jelly..
The shop also had a selection of religious books and other items.
I also toured the property. I drove up to the abbey church which was quite large.
On the way up the hill to see the shopping operation, I spotted and photographed two wild turkeys strutting around on the lawns
Their warehouse and shipping operation was a little smaller than I thought it would be.
Overall, it was quick 45 minute visit.
I rate the abbey, grounds, and products at 4.75.
I highly recommend a visit regardless of one’s religious faith. Their jams, jellies, and preserves are topnotch quality and delicious.

The ambience of the Country Store makes the difference. A year round flea market and antiques add significant flavors to it aall.

It's family friendly and photogenic. Definitely a must visit place. Although I have no idea why a tourist would visit the area but it's a classic New England experience if you find yourself barreling through central Massachusetts. There is also a creepy cabin nearby with a webcam attached for some reason. Look inside and be underwhelmed. If you dare!!

Recently attended a wedding weekend in nearby Sturbridge and found this bowling alley/mini golf/arcade spot to pass some free time. The staff was friendly and helpful. We decided to play mini golf, which is 18 holes for $6 p/p. During the game, it started raining, so we were forced inside where we played a few arcade games and hung out until the rain stopped. The most popular activity seems to be the candlestick bowling, which we had never seen before: the pins are thin like candles and the balls are small. It is played on a regular size bowling alley. It only costs $3.75 a game plus $2.50 for shoe rental. They also have a back room filled with pool tables where you can play for $10/hr. They serve snacks as well. The interior is a bit dark and basic, but it's a cute place to spend some time with family or friends, especially on a rainy day.

Kids will enjoy exploring the jumble of boulders that forms this "house," beyond which you'll discover a small, serene pond.
What a beautiful hiking trail area and awesome climbing rocks! The rocks are huge and there are places to climb and explore. There are clearly marked trails and trail maps posted so you won't get lost. You must be able to hike as there are some flat trails; however the majority of the trails are for a more advanced hiker. The rocks could be a bit dangerous for younger children, but there are many great places for smaller children to explore. This is a state park so there is no camping, but you could enjoy a picnic here by the pond. Very pretty views and information in the rock house about the wildlife you may see. This is a great place to enjoy for an hour or two with your family. There is no admission fee.

This central Massachusetts museum houses a collection that includes works by European and American artists as well as Asian, Greek and Roman art.
A unique collection of late 19th/early 20th century photographs is on view until the 25 of Feb. The photos are of an African/American and Native American community living in Worcester. Aside from the photos as images, many of them have been identified with families still residing in Worcester. These add to the texture of the city and connects the families with their ancestors, a unique experience.

I had never heard of disc golf before and the 4 of us decided to go on a Saturday. It was so much fun! Definitely more physically challenging than I thought it would be! Only because some of the "holes" you had to climb up or down really steep hills, over a brook, through bushes lol. But we had so much fun here. We were there for almost 3 hours. It was nice not being rushed like you can be at mini golf. I have a feeling I will be comparing all future courses to this one!

PUBLIC Golf Course, Restaurant and Bar, and Banquet Facility, Friendly Staff, Great Food, Leagues, Memberships, Friday Couples League, Great Fun!
Barely better than it's neighbor Hillcrest CC, Pine Ridge is an 18 hole course with some interesting holes but needs some grooming. The kitchen has food ranging from terrific to less than edible depending on who the cook is on your day. Pro shop is always friendly. Parking can be a challenge.

We visited Treehouse on a beautiful snowy Saturday afternoon. What an amazing location, the facilities were unbelievably nice with a live band was playing. Staff was super friendly and the beer was delicious. I don’t know if I would’ve had such a great experience if we had to wait out side in the snow but I was glad we didn’t have to. Just wish we had more beer to choose from to take home with us. We would return for another visit.

A recreated New England village, with authentic period buildings, provides vistors with an intimate view of life in the early 1800s.
We visited during summer several years ago, (sorry for the late review) it was hot & the demos reflected a summer life style of New England in the early 1800s. Some of the demonstrations I enjoyed were; the blacksmith, tin shop, & the pottery. I...MoreThank you for visiting Old Sturbridge Village! We're glad that you enjoyed your visit several years ago and hope that you will come again in the future, perhaps in a different season or for a special event.
