An awesome Independent bookstore located in Beautiful Sparta, NJ.
Came for a brief visit with my 95yr old FIL and my wife. My FIL loves historical books, my wife is besotted with her grand-daughter. Both of them very much liked the books available. Decent historical selection, and the children's section came with very good recommendations from the owner of the bookstore. The fiction section was somewhat oriented to modern bestsellers, but there were staff recs about some books. That's always a good sign. I'm a nerd, so I look to the non-fiction and STEM side - I found a few gems here but that's not the focus of this bookshop. From what I could see, the owner really cares about books. Esp. children's books, but she has a nice selection over all. Like any bookstore, there is a selection of non-book stuff - local coffee cups, greeting cards, etc. I very much hope that this bookstore succeeds.

Excellent exhibit currently being shown on Thomas Edison. Our guide was Jack, a trustee and a wealth of knowledge. Many, many displays of Edison inventions such as Ediso photographs( record players) , ticker - tape, Edison talking doll, etc, etc. Also, extensive display downstairs focused on the Sparta area mining operations ( which Edison had some involvement in). Highly recommended and I look forward to a return trip.

SkyView Golf Club is a family owned and operated 18-hole championship golf course, driving range & wedding venue with one of the most scenic views in NJ. SkyView is open to the public.
After staying inside for 2 months because of the Covid-19 and working 10-12 hours a day with patients (psychotherapist) I needed a BREAK! SkyView was simply what the doctor ordered. Buddy and the rest of the staff were amazingly accommodating and the starter was as friendly as they come. The course itself is very interesting and being my first time I was a bit overwhelmed by all the blind shots. But the course is so well maintained and the greens run fair and consistent, once I put the driver away I scored well and had a blast! Wonderful staff + brilliant golf = perfect day! Dan Parker, LCSW

This place is a little hard to find, and not highlighted many places. It's quite wonderful. Once you find the entrance by car, you have a few options. Park early, walk far. Park later walk less. Park at the end, walk downhil (then back up), and find the trails. Don't stop at the first parking lot unless you want to. Drive up and check out the options, then pick you parking spot. There are 3 or 4 of those. Between the 2nd and 3rd parking spots is a marked trail going up the hill into forest. Not an option with my 95 yr old FIL who was otherwise fine walking up and down the paved section. There are several iron BBQ stands among the park, pick one if you drive to the top and back down. There's a shelter between parking #2 and #3 (if I remember), you could have 20-30 people gather there out of the rain. In January (2020) after a lot of rain, the stream running through the park was happily bubbling. Not sure what it would look like in July or August. There's lots of shade, and they seem to be working on re-introducing some solid tress to add to that. This park looks like a work in progress, but is wonderful as it sits.
