Museum of Technology the History of Gadgets & Gizmos

The Museum spans that very small period in history from 1830 - 1980 in which the technological revolution took place. The collection traces the progress of electronic and engineered artefacts including telegraphy, telephony, audio, military and civil communications, warfare, photography, scientific and electrical domestic equipment. Many items can be demonstrated including an A & B Telephone and a new exhibit to demonstrate a Military Pedal/Hand Generator. It was used for charging batteries. It has been wired up to a light bulb which can be switched on and off to show how much energy is needed to light the bulb. Kids love to “have a go” so we think this new exhibit will bring a lot of pleasure to both young and old.

Gordon Boswell Romany Museum

We are a family run museum, started in 1995 by my Gordon and Margaret Boswell. We have a large collection of gypsy wagons (Vardos), carts, harness, along with a collection of cooking pots and related items to our way of life. We also have old photographs of our family from over the last 150 years. We offer a very warm welcome to everyone, from Easter to the end of September, on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays, we also open during the week for groups. If you belong to a group and are looing for a different place to visit then give us a try, a typcial visit takes around 2 hours. Please give us a call to arrange a visit.

Ayscoughfee Hall, Museum & Gardens

A family home built in the 1450s, Ayscoughfee Hall stands in 5 acres of Gardens. The Hall tells the story of the people who lived here, as well as local history, and the Gardens are full of interesting features including an ice house and War Memorial designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. Ayscoughfee Café is open year round and is a great place for drinks and light refreshments.
