Nice road through the mountains Parang with scenic views. The highest altitude is at Urdele (2145 m). There are many great trails for hiking in Parang Mountains from Transalpina.

There is a deep symbolism in the limestone monuments, during a route of 1,753 meters, which starts from the Table of Silence and reaches, crossing the city, to the Endless Gratitude Column to the Heroes of the Nation. It’s a homage to the soldiers who fell in the First World War. Regarding the Table of Silence, there is a Christian dimension of the mass, a table of communion and confession, of peace and silence, a philosophical table, those 12 seats that can be the 12 apostles. Then, on the route there are 30 chairs, in the shape of an hourglass, represent the passage of time. The route passes through the Kiss Gate, which has a special significance, being interpreted as the Gate of Heaven, as a triumphal arch of the soldiers' victory. It is like a gateway to the Great Passage. There are the two benches and they can symbolize the wait before the Last Judgment. The Kiss Gate has an architrave that is like a dowry box, therefore being a wedding gate. Speaking of heroes, of young men who had fallen in the war, some of them unable to kiss a girl, they went to marry Death. The dowry box on the two pillars of the gate is also relevant from this perspective. The route leads to the Infinite Column and passes through the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. There is a route of the burial ritual, when young soldiers say goodbye to life in a last meditative state, walking their way to the Kiss Gate. As the funeral procession has stops, they are marked by those 30 seats, in five groups each. Into the church, there is the last ritual that the priest performs and we reach the Column, like a Staircase of Jacob, of the ascension of souls to Heaven. The traditional funerary pillar is present in this meaning of the Infinite Column, as a row of rhombohedrons. Each rhombohedron is 1.80 meters in size, which means it is a human state, therefore there is an infinite number of people to Heaven. Infinite Column is a pillar, a funeral tree.

The Cozia monastery impresses by its authentic architectural style and very well kept interior wall paintings ( icons) and exterior walls. It also impresses by lodging inside the tomb of a well known , heroic Romanian ruler from the XIV century. There is also a museum that can be visited free of charge. Pictures or filming inside the church is forbidden.

We have been 10 families, spending there a weekend, including a wine tasting, breakfast and dinner. Our POC was Bianca whom, together with her team did everything for us to have one of the best weekends we ever had. We have been lucky to have a late autumn sunny weather, enjoying the morning coffee on the terrace overlooking the Olt Valley and the evenings charmed by the autumn colours of the hills in the sunset. And all this is possible due to the fact that the entire complex have been thought, designed and developed in a unitarian concept by architect Alexandru Beldiman. Avincis is a family business, developed with own financing, offering accommodation in 9 double rooms, 2 apartments with 1 bedroom and 1 apartment with 2 bedrooms. Even if it's rated at 3*, it could be easily included at 4*. Each room has own bathroom (equipped with top sanitary items) and a dressing space, fridge, cable TV, wireless internet. Be aware that, from Dragasani, there are 2 roads heading there. One of them is not so good, so you should follow the indicating signs posted on the national road. The dinner and the wine tasting (including 5 wines) were very appreciated by everybody. I would say you shouldn't miss this experience, especially if you like a good wine! Thank you, Bianca and your team!

We walked up to the Monastery from Orsova (a nice 45 minute hike up the road from the center). The Monastery is well cared for and had amazing flowers everywhere. It is worth a visit. We didn't stay long but wandered around a little enjoying the views and the flowers.

Me and my travel companion were in Orsova for one night and visited this part of the Danube river, which certainly breathes a specific atmosphere. Our journey included a car drive through Eselnita and a visit to the monument of Decebal, close to Dubova. It's a beautiful part of the Danube, with high cliffs on the Serbian side of the river. Most lively period of the year here is definitely summertime; now when spring just had started (early April) it can be quite cold and the sun comes out less frequently. This part of the river including is definitely worth a visit at any time of your if you're in the area.
