Path to Peace

I visited the Path to Peace with the the Gaza experience tour and enjoyed meeting Zameret and visiting her home and gallery. I feel privileged to have visited with her and I am moved by her work and by her dedication to the area of Israe. It was fortunate to visit the day before the escalation of violence and rocket fire into the are from neighboring Gaza. It is critical for anyone looking to understand the current tension with the Israeil and the Palenstinian crisis. What a lovely and peaceful place. I sent my friends her website so they can learn about her work and order some nice ceramics.

Moshav Nevatim Cochin cultural center

Reviewed By 367rc - Ramat Hasharon, Israel

Nevatim, an agricultural settlement near the city of Beer-Sheba (capital of the Neghev area) was settled in 1954 by jews from Cochin, India. It boasts a Cochin Heritage Center composed of a compact, amazing museum and a stunning synagogue, both definitely worth a visit. 1. the museum. We were presented with a 16- minutes documentary on the history and customs of the Cochin jewish community and its immigration to Israel. On the walls at the entrance, and in the movie room - black and white pictures depicting life in India and the transition from trade there to agriculture. here. Next, we were led through rooms with a rich variety of encased exhibits from daily life in Cochin: clothing, jewelery items, household ware, religious lamps, Torah case. 2. the synagogue Plain looking outside, stunning inside. The interior is breathtaking. Never have I seen such richness of details and color, lights, pillars, fine furniyture and ornaments. The central part of the synagogue is taken up with the Holy Arc (the wooden closet which contains the Torah scrolls) and in front of it - the bima (the podium for Torah readings). There's a second bima upstairs, on the ladies' floor.

Ben Gurion Tomb

A cultivated desert garden where the graves of the former Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and his wife Paula sit at the edge of a steep cliff overlooking the magnificent landscape of the Zin Canyon and the Avdat highlands. The paths leading to the graves pass through a cultivated garden with indigenous plant life that thrives in the arid climate and saline conditions of the desert. Ben Gurion’s hut on Kibbutz Sde Boker has been preserved as it was on the day that he died, and it is open to visitors who wish to learn more about him. The national park has a picnic area, gift shop, hiking and camping equipment, an information center and cafeteria. The park is accessible to people with disabilities and is open throughout the day.

Other than the historical significance of those buried here (David and Pola Ben Gurion), the grounds on which the tombs lie are very nice and well maintained, full of grass, trees and flowers. And there are many Ibixes (mountain goats) running around, eating from the trees! And then there's the amazing view of the valley and Zin stream below, which is simply breathtaking. Worth a visit.

King Solomon's Mines

Reviewed By beenhereforever - Amherstburg, Canada

Immediately upon entering this area one is blown away by the vast variations in stone formations and the colours!!!!!!! The Solomon pillars are overwhelming in their sheer size and depth, but that was only part of the beauty of this magnificent area. There used to be copper mines here, so naturally the colours of the rocks varied dramatically, from white chalky colours to yellows and blues and greens and so many shades of red that changed when the sun moved. I was almost moved to tears at the beauty and incredible size of the area.
