Parking is limited nearby the Boat Inn but worth trying to get a place. Great walk along the side of the River Don past three hides to watch the birds on the flash which is not visible from the path. Towards the end you can take a path back to where you started with great views of the flash

An early start is recommended, a good pair of walking boots or or wellingtons are a must just now. The route as changed slightly in the last few months, new fencing as been erected around the wooded area just above the dam, and a new gate erected into the wood, if you haven’t been before, the scenes are stunning, the circular walk which begins from the parking area off the Stocksbridge bypass, there’s also a parking lay-by further up the road, it’s is I would say a medium walk, there is one fairly stiff climb/decent depending on which way you do the walk, be aware the weather can & does change this time of year.

I love this place.. it has some of the most beautiful views. When it's sunny the sun shines through through the trees and the path around the resevoir is comfortable and wide enough to walk in comfort. Great place for a little stroll!
