I felt very welcomed as soon as I walked in by the two gentleman who work in this shop. One of the gentleman, Bob, was extremely knowledgable on the origins and history of the love Spoons which I found fascinating. He definitely knew his craft. The other gentleman who's name I did not get was also very friendly and chatty, especially as we both come from the same area. I could tell instantly that they both had a passion for their work. If you want a nice hand crafted Welsh souvenir I highly recommend this shop as it has something special to offer.

Located in the beautiful market town of Abergavenny, The Marches Delicatessen showcases a selection of fine cheese, charcuterie and local artisan foods from across Wales and The Marches region. The majority of our food is sourced directly from producers. This allows us to see first-hand the passion and dedication which goes into making the exceptional produce we sell.
When we moved to Abergavenny this shop was a wonderful find. The range of cheeses from Wales and the Marches region was extensive and the other items in the shop, from biscuits and chutneys to bread, charcuterie and olives, to gin and beers was really comprehensive. It came as a shock, though maybe not a total surprise, when the shop closed as of January 1st this year. There's still the branch in Monmouth, which has the added plus of a café which also serves light lunches ... a bit of a journey but well worthwhile now and again.

There is an onsite studio so you are able to see the artworks being made and a progressive programme of beginner's day courses available for both Stained and Fused Glass. There is also a good range of sheet glass, tools and materials to buy. The studio is complimented by a Retail Art Gallery featuring not only stained and fused glass, but a range of handmade unique work by Makers from South and West Wales. The Gallery features slate, ceramics, wood, felt, paper and wire work. Makers can be commissioned to make one off bespoke pieces.
I attended a stained glass workshop today taught by Angelina! I absolutely loved it and would highly recommend to others! The environment was very safe in our separate cubicles and all guidelines were adhered to in a professional but friendly manner. Well worth the price and you having something beautiful to show at the end of the day! Can’t wait to book another class soon.. Grace x

Popped into Marches today on a trip across to Monmouth looking for some local cheese. Delighted to discover a cafe at the rear where we were able to have some lunch before making our purchases. I had a lovely cheese board, with three different cheeses and my husband had a large bowl of delicious soup served with bread, cheese and chutney. We were then helped to make our selection of cheeses by a really helpful and knowledgeable guy who we assumed was the proprietor, and came away with some great cheese. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area and we will be back!

Award winning Salt Marsh Lamb available for purchase here. Sought after by chefs and restauranteers alike, this is a must have product when in South Wales.
I’ve been buying lamb from here for the past few years, in fact awaiting for a delivery now. Delivery is always on time packed so it keeps cold and fresh always gets here the day after its sent. This lamb tastes absolutely amazing, it’s always constant in flavour, which is so different to anything you can buy in supermarkets or butchers. I can’t explain the flavour but it just tastes soooo gooood.
