Nice to feel the warm steam from Blesi on your legs when you come close. Impressive blue colors inside and in the background you can see the Strokkur going up.

Reykjadalur Hot Springs

Reviewed By Sladepatel - Charlotte, United States

Wow! We went at the very last minute, as we were driving back from a full day along the south coast, so we were already immensely exhausted. What I had read about the natural geothermal River was that it was in the valley and beautiful! This is an understatement. As you start out, right from the parking lot, you can dip right into the spring pools (super warm/hot) water which feels great on your feet! It was about 35F outside so we were bundled and I didn’t have the courage to dip much more than my feet! The hike was strenuous uphill most of the way there- and over the mountain passes! There is a beautiful waterfall put in the distance below. Recommend this to anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to experience a true natural geothermal river straight from the earth. Just be cautious because this is at least 2.5-3 miles just to get there!!!

Haukadalur

For natural lovers this is a good stop for seeing the geothermal activity. It was different unique experience to me as I hadn't seen such a thing before. There's a restaurant and gift shop and toilets on the site which gives a good chance for a good short break.

Haukadalur Geothermal Field

Reviewed By GRITSMassachusetts - Hudson, United States

We stopped at the Geyser and Hot Springs area on our way south from Gullfoss waterfall. Strokkur erupts about every 10 minutes. Some eruptions are almost a burp but when it fully erupts it is awesome. Have your camera ready because it goes very quickly. Lots of bubbling spots and steam vents. Keep downwind as much as possible.

Geysir

Reviewed By WorldTravelerCO - Thornton, United States

While we didn't see the large Geysir go off, this was still worth the stop! Our daughter, who hasn't been to Yellowstone National Park yet, loved seeing the geothermal field and we all enjoyed the walk. This place gets very crowded, but it's still worth it.

Seljavallalaug

Reviewed By Shofsan - Hallevik, Sweden

I went here with my husband, since it was oj the way back from our South Coast tour. We didn't have our suits with is, but wanted to see it. I'm glad we decided to do the small hike! The valley in which it's located in is beautiful! I enjoyed the walk there probably more than the actual destination. It's really cool to see this pool in the middle of nature. There were four people swimming in it and the water looks a little green, probably from the algae. Keep to the left and find the little path then just walk straight. There was also a little "bridge" to help you cross over the river if you happened to not be wearing waterproof shoes:)

Deildartunguhver Thermal Spring

Reviewed By LizardSC - Mount Pleasant, United States

We found ourselves with some free time, so decided that we would visit this spring - and I'm so glad we did! The water truly is boiling out of the ground - absolutely beautiful and amazing! The water from here is used back in Borgarnes and elsewhere for heating - there's THAT much volume! It's just fascinating. Since we were here around lunchtime, we decided to eat in the restaurant at the adjoining spa - it was delicious!
