We stopped in last week to make sure that the cider donuts we first tried two years ago were still good. They were, as was the home-made apple crisp (tart and sweet at the same time, with the taste of apples melting in your mouth). We bought a gallon of their maple syrup, as well as a bag of Cortlands and some garlic and tomatoes. The apple trees were loaded with apples, the yard full of big pumpkins, and there is a little playground for the little ones. The people that work at Hacketts are so friendly and helpful. What a great place to spend the afternoon - eat good food, pick some gorgeous apples, and support a local family business. I highly recommend at least one visit.

The Island Craft Shop is the oldest artisan cooperative in Grand Isle County, Vermont. It was founded in 1991 by a group of talented Champlain Island crafters. This is a member-owned and operated business. Over the years there have been many changes: the shop has moved several times and members have come and gone, but the Island Craft Shop continues to offer some of the best and most innovative Vermont products. From modest beginnings, the shop has grown into a must-see destination for Islanders and visitors alike. Twenty-one members now exhibit a wide ranging array of unique crafts, from locally sourced preserves to fiber goods, fused and stained glass art, jewelry in a variety of styles, turned wooden household items, watercolor and acrylic paintings, candles, garden ornaments and many other made-in-Vermont items. Open from 10 AM to 4 PM, there is always an artisan member in the shop to welcome you and to answer any questions about the crafts on display.

Opening day is May 28, 2021! The Local Motion Bike Ferry is a unique way to travel across the gap in the Colchester Causeway along the Island Line Trail. The 45-foot long pontoon boat has been equipped with bike racks and comfortable seats to carry bikers and walkers between Colchester and the Hero Islands. The 200-foot wide gap in the Causeway is bridged by the Bike Ferry, turning the ride into a novel and beautiful biking experience. From downtown Burlington, you can travel by foot or by bike along the 13-mile Island Line Trail. The final three miles are on the Colchester Causeway, a strip of raised land extending into Lake Champlain that is bridged by the Local Motion Bike Ferry and surrounded by water and mountain views. The experienced crew will direct you to load your bike onto the boat and will share some fun facts about the mountain views.
We're blessed to have this amazing resource right in our back yard! Throughout the season, we ride our bikes north from Colchester, up the breathtaking causeway, across the cut via the jaunty bike ferry, and on to favorite activities in the islands l like a wine tasting, ice cream cones, and markets.

I was taking a drive in the Champlain Islands to take pictures and stopped in on a whim. So glad I did. The building and grounds are beautiful (and there was some construction on an addition / new flooring for wedding and event space. Great idea as the spot id beautiful). I had two 4 taste wine "flights" with terrific service and tips from Emily and Connor. I liked each of the wines I samples and enjoyed them on the patio overlooking the vineyard and mountain in the distance. Just learned they have a summer live music series. Look forward to going back for wine and music and to pick up a bottle or two. Was solo this time, but already made plans for friends to join next trip!

We biked from the southern start of the causeway in Colchester to this farm (about 6 miles one-way) with 2 kids. It was a great stop for ice cream, to pet & feed the farm animals, and to play on their playground.
