Took my 15-yr. old granddaughter for a new adventure for both of us. I love to fish but have never done deep sea fishing by boat--I can get seasick easily. Since this fishing adventure was kid-focused, I didn't think I would have any problems. We did go far out but was not sick at all. We all caught fish; 7 each for granddaughter and I. Great experience for all.

Museum, Education, Lectures, and more! Founded in 2002, the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center sits on the 11.3-acre, 10-building campus which comprised the former Marconi/RCA Wireless Receiving Station, once the busiest ship-to-shore station on the East Coast and a significant military installation (during World War II). The Operations Building now houses the Marconi/RCA Wireless Museum offering interactive exhibits tracing the story of wireless communication in Chatham from its formative days with Marconi, through the 20th Century. The recently renovated campus residence, also once known as the Hotel Nautilus, is the Education Center with additional space for administrative offices, classes, and lectures. CMMC began working on STEM classes in 2008 and launched a major education initiative in 2011 when it partnered with the Public Schools of Chatham and Harwich, MA (now the Monomoy Regional School District), and the MIT Club of Cape Cod to develop curriculum and teacher training materials in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The specific focus of the program is on the subject areas of Communications Engineering and Design. These fields are two of the subtopics in the MA Science and Technology/Engineering Curriculum Frameworks. They also coincide with the mission of CMMC and our emphasis on wireless communications. Finally, we live in the "information age." Innovations are occurring on a daily basis and the products that reach the marketplace are having a profound effect upon society. Our implementation plan includes active roles for both professionals and volunteers in K-12 classrooms throughout Cape Cod. We also offer a wide array of classes and workshops in the summer, a winter science camp, after school programs, and professional development for teachers. To see a complete list of our courses and a preview of our museum offerings, visit our website.
This small but informative museum is packed with a number of displays of historical events in the early history of radio telegraphy in the 20th century all tied in to the Cape Cod and Chatham area. The museum personnel were very helpful and friendly as well. a lot of hands on aspects to the displays.

Light tackle and fly fishing cape cod and the islands . From novice to expert we try to show you a great time.
There are charter boat captains and there are fishermen. Cape Alan is a fisherman thorough and through. In the fishing world we refer to special people who seem to know how fish think as "fishy." Captain Alan is fishy and knows what to fish for all year long. Ive fished on two of his three boats and I like to call this the blue collar mans charter company. With this crew its fish hard and we seem to always catch fish. tuna, Stripers, Bonito & Albies; with this crew Ive caught them all. My advice. Owner Captains Alan knows what is biting where so adjust your trip based on his advice and make sure the camera is charged. Highly Recommended!

Birdwatchers flock to this Cape Cod wildlife habitat with a special emphasis on migratory birds.
Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge has come a long way since it was a gunnery range for the U.S. Army in the 1940s. In 1951, the wildlife refuge was established. Located on Wikis Way on Morris Island off Chatham, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod, with Nantucket Sound on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other, the 7,604-acre refuge is situated along Massachusetts' Atlantic Flyway. It is one of the eight ecologically diverse refuges in Eastern Massachusetts and supports the second largest nesting colony of common terns on the Atlantic seaboard with over 8,000 nesting pairs. There are eight miles of sandy beaches, salt and freshwater marshes, dunes and ponds. And it can only be reached by ferry boat. The goal of the refuge is to provide a habitat for migratory birds. More than 10 species of seabirds, shorebirds and waterbirds nest on the islands. One of the refuge's missions is to protect habitats critical to migratory shorebirds, spawning horseshoe crabs and any other life that may reside in the refuge, such as the Piping Plover, American Oystercatcher and Roseate Tern. In addition, a big part of habitat protection entails the protection of the refuge's natural dunes. Other things of interest for visitors of the refuge are fishing for striped bass and bluefish, walking the trails on Morris Island and visiting the nearby Chatham Lighthouse, which guided sailors for nearly 200 years but now is open for public tours. Thomas Jefferson appointed the lighthouse's first keeper.

My wife and I aren't gardeners--we live on the eighth floor of a condominium in downtown Chicago--but we love to have fresh flowers in our home, especially lillies, so when someone suggested that we stop at the Cape Cod Lavender Farm during our visit to this Massachusetts wonderland...well, we figured it might be a refreshing way to spend a summer afternoon. It was. On a patch of land overlooking Island Pond in Harwich on the lower Cape, on Island Pond Trail off Weston Woods Road, owner Cynthia Sutphin planted 400 lavender plants in the early 1990s. Today, her family runs one of the largest lavender farms on the East Coast with more than 14,000 plants in seemingly endless varieties. We were introduced to Grosso, a French favorite with a strong scent, Hidcote pink, which smells like peaches, and Harwich Blue, a dark indigo hybrid developed on the farm. You can buy individual potted plants, fresh-picked bouquets to dry and all sorts of products sprung from the farm's bounty, including Sachets, handmade skincare products and even edibles, like the very popular Lavender-Lemon Marmalade. Trust me, lavender jelly is treat that rivals raspberry, strawberry and blueberry. For relaxation, take a stroll through the fields and marvel at aisle after aisle of blue-grey-purple mounds and scent, lavender mingling with the salty breeze off Cape Cod. We missed the celebrated June/July harvest but the gift shop offers a wide-ranging variety of uses for lavender, from food and drink (did I mention that lavender lemonade is a real treat?) to body and home with lavender bath salts, lavender essential oil, lavender body butter, candles, soaps and washes. Then relax in the shade garden with plantings around a miniature stone replica of a medieval castle. Visiting Cape Cod Lavender Farm is a unique experience. Have you ever been to a lavender farm?

Grab your family and friends and enjoy the best fishing on Cape Cod! Jail Break Fishing Charters offers half and full day striped bass, bluefish, and bluefin tuna fishing trips.
Just went striper fishing with Seamus. What an experience! We brought in lots of stripers in only a half day trip. Seamus is super knowledgeable and is patient with the most novice of fishermen! This is our third year going out with him and the trip never disappoints! Sign me up for next year!

The seals of Monomoy are a rare treat seen close up from the shallow drafting seal watch vessel Perserverance. You will glide though narrow channels and into isolated lagoons where hundreds, sometimes thousands of Gray Seals swim and lay out along the shore. And you will spy sea birds and once in a while, the shadow of a great white shark passes by. Some of the best ocean fun adventure for your family.
I thought we would see a lot of other awesome animals, but our trip to Monomoy was just average. The captain and the naturalist were very good at what they do, both safe and informative, and I did learn a few things about the islands and the seals. But I was more impressed with all the Ospreys we saw as we returned to Harwich Port in the beautiful cove we circled.
If you're looking for something different to pass a few hours, don't go in with high expectations. It's just OK in my opinion.

Visited at the end of the summer - what a beautiful venue! The beach is almost completely protected by sand bars making the waves benign. The down sides include the heavy private boat traffic and the danger of sharks due to the large population of seals in the area. There was a shark warning sign prominently displayed on the beavh. That said, it's a beautiful beach thst is well worth visiting with family and friends and a good dose of caution and awareness.
