The Rare Breeds Farm is a unique collection of rare and unusual breeds of domesticated farm animals, many on the brink of extinction and not on public displays any where else in the world. Come on down and take a tour of the farm and learn more about these interesting and rare animals.
Excellent and unique experience!! Will is so friendly and knowledgeable - not just the "rare breeds" but also the common animals. It is an eye opener with all the hardwork that he puts in, demonstrating his passion and enthusiasm in this field. It is an wonderful experience that I would strongly recommend. And the timing was perfect that we ended up having the opportunity to bottle-feed the gorgeous baby lambs! :)

Open Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon during school term times. See Google for upto date opening times.Goolwa Animal Farm is a family run farm where old and young can interact with animals. The farm is set in the beautiful South Australian countryside and yet is only 6 minutes drive from the best surf beaches in SA. There are typical farm animals but also a 3 different types of kangaroos, alpacas, emus, reptiles, turtles, rabbits, guinea pigs, ponies, donkeys, cockatoos and a walk in aviary. Trailer rides free with admission, a large nature style play area and a takeaway cafe serving great coffee and refreshments ensure a great trip for all.
On Friday, the 8th of January 2021, my husband and I decided to visit with our granddaughter Skye (five years old) the Goolwa Animal Farm. I read so many good reviews, and I wanted to see this place. The owners are so kind like their many animals. We spent a lot of time with the many rabbits and guinea pigs. Skye found two new friends: a grey rabbit and a brown guinea pig, which she was feeding with carrots, bought in the shop of the owners. Then we had our lunch time at the picnic place. We brought our own breads and vegetables. There is a playground which was very much loved by our Skye. She was hopping from one wood trunk to the other for at least 30 minutes. We met a big brown horse, a pony and a donkey. Then we saw geese, ducks, chicken, two fat pigs, sheep and goats and on a trailer ride emus (for example Mr. Angry, who is really very angry), kangaroos and alpacas. The highlights for us were to be introduced to the 44-year-old Sulphur-crested cockatoo Billy, the nine-year-old python and the three-day-old little goat, which was brought to the owners almost dead after her mother didn't accept it. We three loved this place so much. You feel like being at the farm of your friends. We will be back very soon!!!

Volunteer Deckhands can book our "Deckie for a Day" experience and be immersed in Oyster Farming in the clean, clear, pristine waters of Oyster Bay, Stansbury on the Southern Yorke Peninsula. Learn how oysters are farmed, help with the duties on the day and be rewarded by indulging in oysters straight from the sea.
Highly recommended. This was the high point of my trip - Steve and Gerri make you feel very welcome, providing you with warm clothing for the experience which includes learning about the oyster life cycle, how they are grown and marketed, and getting your hands wet before being treated to a huge variety of fresh oysters. Includes a lesson on shucking oysters, a knife to shuck them and a dozen to take home.
