We are using Eftychis' and Mary's services since couple of years. Always on time (even when the flight is delayed - or early in the morning to support hiking in the the mountains). All drivers pay a lot of attention to our kids and driving style is very safe. We could recommend 100%!

The four-hour walk through the gorge takes you through beautiful, uncrowded scenery.
We hiked from the top to the bottom. My wife and I did it with our 2 and 5 year olds. The 5 year old loved it. The 2 year old had to be carried most of the way. It took 3.5 hours with a picnic stop. All rockfall has been dealt with and the way is clearly marked. The bar at the bottom called a taxi. Wait time was only 10 minutes and cost a was 35 euros for a 7 seater.

To reach the ancient city of Lissos we walked from Sougia on the well marked trail up the Lissos gorge and over the hill and down a rough zig-zag path to Lissos. This walk of one and a half hours should not be underestimated. The descent in to the Lisos plain is quite tough especially in the heat. At first sight Lissos looks like a pile of rocks but there is spectacular history here of a flourishing city from the 3rd century BC. Give yourself time to recover from the walk before paying attention to the ruins. The first building you come to is the temple with a Roman mosaic, further down near the harbour is the chapel. Whole area is atmospheric and hard to believe once an important city. After a cool swim we waited for our pre-ordered water taxi - Captain George (plenty of adverts for him in Sougia) - who arrived promptly to whisk us away.

Situated in the southwest part of Crete beyond the White Mountains of Chania Prefecture, the cozy little seaside village of Sougia is right out of a Kazantzakis novel. One road in, one road out, this pebbly wonder is one of my favorite places on the island since I got lost and discovered it back in 2014. Bottom line - Go here and pull up a shade tree right by the Libyan Sea. Amazing! Note: Be prepared for a windy mountain road or two going in and out.
