Wonderful street art in the old town of songkhla southern Thailand. Each evening, an artist appears & continues his mural. There's always an audience and no grafetti!!

'Could have wandered around for ages and still be discovering new nooks and crannies, treasures and fascinating architecture. Welcoming and well-marked, this area of town is seriously switched-on to encouraging tourism whilst retaining its charm. Not to be missed!

Thailand’s largest inland body of water contains several islands and two important bird sanctuaries.
We did a trip on a long tail boat around Songkhla Lake at around 5PM. it was a perfect time as it has cool down abit. It was interesting to see the old town area from the water. Many houses on the water are spectacular and we also visited the fisherman village which was also quite interesting to see.

Housed in a 19th-century former governor's mansion, this museum exhibits a collection of artifacts from the province.
Excellent local museum - lots of interesting items, giving insight into the history of the Southern Thailand region. Recommended for any school visit with students.

Songkhla Zoo is a nice activity for a family especially with young children. They have a wide variety of animals to see, scattered over very large grounds. You can drive between each station because walking would be very far and especially with hot weather it would be exhausting so we took small breaks in the air conditioning of the car when driving slowly small distances like 150-200m between stations. Shortly after the zoo reopened after covid19 it was free to all visitors but they limited the number of guests who could come in, so it was quite nice and not crowded, for social distancing purposes. In normal circumstances I could imagine that it could get quite full and perhaps not as enjoyable as it was for us.

This is a must visit - to get to the top there is a rail way lift which costs 50 bahts - 30 up and 20 down. There is a route to walk but the hill is very steep and there are many monkeys to navigate which can be intimidating by their sheer number. At the top there are so many view points you are spoiled for choice. The hill top is an active temple so you need to respect the various shrines. A good time to visit is early morning for the quiet and late evening for the sunset.

You can pose for pictures with Nang Nguek Thong or Golden Mermaid Statue while enjoy a relaxing walk along the seafront. There are also plenty of vendors congregate along the beachfront, selling everything from cheap eats to Songkhla souvenirs.
