My friend and I, both advanced riders, had a wonderful time on our 2 hour hack. We were on Paddy (a very affectionate and level headed 5 year old!) and Flo, and were taken through the tracks in the woods, over and along the stream and up into the open Mendip Hills with the wild Exmoors roaming about and view right down to the sea. Stunning. We had several trots and canters which were fairly short but very enjoyable. The horses are well looked after and the staff are very friendly. If you're looking for speedy gallops in the open, this experience might not be for you, but if you're looking to have a lovely day, enjoying your surroundings and a really varied ride on some lovely horses, I would highly recommend Tynings.

My daughter was a first time rider but the staff at the trekking centre were nothing but helpful and informative, making sure my daughter who has now ridden there twice had nothing but the best experience on both occasions. Although they advertise a half hour trek, we were allowed to undertake two half hour treks together to make a one hour trek along the national cycle route which runs alongside the centre, so we had an enjoyable hour wandering through the beautiful local countryside whilst my daughter rode on Rocky the horse. This was a lovely way for my daughter to gain confidence whilst riding and the staff could not have been more helpful. What is also good is that they have spare boots in most sizes to ensure the riders have the correct footwear whilst on the horses as well as ensuring the hard hat fits correctly too before starting the ride. The tearooms are very good as well.
I have been flying owls and other birds of prey for 12 years at Exmoor Owl & Hawk Centre, and through observation and understanding I let them teach me how to work with them. I take the visitor on a journey of listening and engaging with the birds, to make a connection with their energy and their beauty when flying them to the gloved hand.
