What to do and see in SoMa, California (CA): The Best Transportation

January 3, 2022 Cedrick Jardin

Every neighborhood in San Francisco has its own personality, from the hippie chic of the Upper Haight to the hipster grit of the Mission. The Marina district boasts trendy bistros and postcard-perfect views of the Golden Gate Bridge, while Noe Valley offers quaint and quiet boutiques. Wave hello to the sea lions at Pier 39, and sample local cheese and charcuterie at the Ferry Building. Sit in on a yoga session in Dolores Park or marvel at the Dutch Windmill across from Ocean Beach.

Cabrio Taxi Pedicabs

Tour the city, ride the hills and feel the sweet bay breeze on your face. With a fleet of red sparkly cabs, there are plenty of Cabrio Pedicabs to go around. Each open-air cab is easy to spot, has enough room for two - four passengers, and is always operated by a licensed, trained, friendly driver who can add local color to any ride. Using the city’s dedicated bike lanes (ideal for avoiding traffic), rides are safe, scenic and fun. Available morning, noon and night, this eco-friendly option offers guests an exciting way to explore the city while getting from point A to point B. San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency

We manage SF's transportation and streets including Muni - the city's public transit system including our world famous cable cars. Leave the car behind and get where you want to go like a local on Muni.

Reviewed By PirateJas - Winterville, United States

We just returned from our 5 day trip to San Francisco and I have to say that the Munimobile tickets we purchased to ride the public transportation, was a great value! We bought the 7 day unlimited for $39.00 and had access to bus, train, cable and metro transport. Had we paid for individual trips, it would have cost us $84.00 for the 5 days...each! The phone app was helpful with planning trips and providing arrival times for the most part. There were a few times when the app stated the transportation was coming, but it never did so we had to improvise. Overall, it was a great way to see the city and plan each day.

Caltrain

Reviewed By 1972nessie - Balsall Common, United Kingdom

We caught the Caltrain from San Carlos to San Francisco as the station was a 5 minute walk from our hotel. It was easy to purchase tickets from the ticket machine and for a family of 4 it cost $36 return. It was a novelty for us as it was a two storey train which we don’t have in the U.K. The journey was great as we had a view of the outside at a height. Would recommend just for the experience
