Surrounded by sprawling parkland, Sofia, the capital and largest city of the Republic of Bulgaria, lies at the foot of popular ski mountain, Vitosha. With a history that stretches over seven millennia, ruin-rich Sofia is one of Europe's oldest cities. The National Historical Museum is one of Eastern Europe's most extensive. Wide, cobblestone boulevards, charming boutiques and truly electrifying nightlife star in this city of 1.3 million. Trolleys, trams and buses traverse the dynamic city.

Gallery Gallery is the first gallery exclusively focussed on digital art in Bulgaria. All exhibitions at the gallery are shown in a virtual exhibition space that is accessible non-stop, but only if you are close enough to the physical location of the gallery. We use an open WiFi network through which you can visit the exhibition and see the artworks, using your own mobile devices.

The National Museum of History has the most impressive collection of national treasures and is the largest museum in Bulgaria. Through more than 650,000 artifacts – Thracian gold and silver, pottery, icons, art & jewelry, mosaics – it tells the story of the European civilization from the dawn of times to the modernity. With focus on the 1300 years history of the Bulgarian state, the museum is a must-see attraction to visit while in Sofia. Closed on national holidays - 1 Jan, 24, 25 Dec.
A MUST VISIT for all travellers who want to discover the unique history of Bulgaria and its wonderful people. This gorgeous museum summarizes the entire history of Bulgaria, accompanying the visitor from 6000 B.C. up to the XXI century. Its collection includes breath-taking artifacts, such as the Thracyan gold treasures and thousands of items from the mighty Bulgarian Empire and the Country's Renaissance period. Items that could be envied by most museums I have visited around the world. English panels provide useful info to foreign visitors, while cafes, a wardrobe, a bookshop and two souvenir shops make the visit comfortable to all.

The museum is full of interesting objects and I would definately recommend booking a guided tour, as the story behind most of the objects is what makes them fascinating! There are plenty workshops that you can enjoy with your kids, just remember to book in advance!
