What to do and see in Snowmass Village, Colorado (CO): The Best Outdoor Activities

August 12, 2021 Stefan Strunk

Despite its name and reputation as a world-class ski resort, Snowmass is not just a one-season Colorado wonder. More than 3,000 acres of terrain parks and halfpipes woo skiers and snowboarders, but 40 miles of hiking and biking trails keep active travelers on the move when the snow melts. The mountain town's boutiques and casual eateries complement the festivals, free music events and rodeo held each summer. When the flakes fall again, a groomed cross-country ski trail links Snowmass to Aspen.

This is an outstanding place for rentals and service. The staff are extraordinarily friendly and totally professional. I was particularly impressed that they recommended the right equipment for me rather than the most expensive. They show a remarkable commitment to customer service and I strongly recommend them to everyone visiting Snowmass. I am a visitor from Britain and skied at Snowmass for 5 days in February 2020.

Aspen Snowmass Ski Resort

Reviewed By irene_isaacson - Buddina, Australia

This is our second visit here since 2018. We love it. The mountain is HUGE. Even when it is busy, there are hardly any lift queues longer than 15mins. usually, especially mid week, you can ski right into many of the lifts with no queues at all. Crazy! The mountain is large with many areas to be accessed, all with a cafe or restaurant within ski in, ski out ability. Depending on the weather and wind direction, you can always find somewhere to ski out of the wind. The runs are generally quite long, the longest over 6 km. Most are well-groomed, blue or steeper black diamond runs. Most have groomed areas, as well as moguls, left un-groomed on the side of those slopes so you can choose the level you feel like skiing, especially if you are with firends who would rather cruise while you go for a more challenging run. The lift prices are not particularly cheap (especially considering we are Australian), but we understand our need to investigate using an Epic and/or Ikon Ski pass next time we think of returning to the US to ski. Coming back here feels like home as we know the runs so well now. And with Aspen so close (free shuttle ride, 30 mins away), it offers everything. having said that, in 4 weeks of skiing, we havent even bothered taking the time to go to Aspen to ski there as we love what Snowmass has to offer. But for nightlife, Aspen is a great short ride away to explore as Snowmass Village is often very quiet although there are some great bars and other facilities on offer. The new ice rink and The Collective is a great addition from when we came in 2018.

Aspen Snowmass

A favorite with families, this year-round Aspen resort means biking and hiking in the summer, and downhill and cross-country skiing in the winter.

Snowmass was a dream for me! Love the diverse long runs with trees that seem always perfectly groomed. Even on a holiday weekend, lift lines were manageable. Food in the lodge is well priced (except 6$bottled water) And really good. Can’t wait to return
