Most people would recommend this hike in one direction or the other. The most useful advice I found was parking at Malarrif and then do a return hike, ie, Malarrif-Londragar-Malarrif. However, I modified this slightly and this is my suggestion (if you are driving from Arnapstapi): 1. Park at Londrangar, walk to the viewing platform to see the basalt cliffs. 2. Drive a short distance further on to Malarrif, visit the excellent Tourist Information Centre. The toilet is open 24 hours. 3. I happened upon Skarðsvík Beach during my drive of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula while I was on my way to Svörtuloft Lighthouse. It really looks stunning to see a golden beach in a country full of black sand beaches, especially against the lava rocks background and the blue sea. It looked almost tropical. It was very peaceful to walk along the shoreline and watch the crashing waves. Just be careful if you are visiting at high tide and/or it is very windy.

We just spotted this from the road (like everyone else) so hopped out for a closer look. Two of us climbed the steep little path past the bridge viewpoint to get nearer the top - recommended if you have the time and agility and a waterproof coat! Otherwise you can see the falls well from the bottom. A good little stop on a Snaefellsnes road trip.

Right off the highway, handily supplied with metal stairs (not at all steep), it’s a worthwhile stop, both for the crater, and the fabulous views. Wear your windbreaker and hat, it’s always windy.
