Beautiful nature, charming, clustered stone villages, hospitable locals with a pleasant, melodic dialect, and excellent cuisine will strongly impress the visitor of Slovene Istria, who travels along the narrow winding roads in the hinterland of the Slovenian coast.

"Divje babe" is a palaeontological archaeological site, a Karst cave in steep rocky slopes above the Indrijca Valley. The most spectacular find was 55,000 years old bone flute, made from the bone of cave bear, in which Neanderthal recessed four holes. Bone flute is the oldest musical instrument found in the world, that is why Sebrelje or Cerkno region is called "the cradle of world music".
My suggestion is to make a hike from village Reka. It takes about 45 minutes to reach it climbing through the woods. We had luck to join one organized tour so we could enter. So ask about entrance before you go. After visiting the cave where the oldest music instrument was found, just prolong the same path to the top. You will be rewarded with the nice viewpoint at the st. Ivan church. You can return from the path on the other side of the church.
