The railway station of Nova Gorica that's located right beside the famous Square Transalpina/Trg Evrope at the Slovenian-Italian border, has a new cultural information touchpoint that represents the twin towns, Nova Gorica on the Slovenian side and Gorizia on the Italian side.

Ljubljana’s main squere is named after the greatest Slovenian Poet France Prešeren , his statue you can see on the squere, facing his great love Julija Primic and with a muse of poetry above his head.

A must see in the Solkan valley. The whole place with the monastery, the church, the surroundings is oozing with serenity. The views over the extremely beautiful Slovenian landscape is stunning. It is a Franceskan monastery in "full working order" with active brothers. There is a restaurant, but opening times unknown to me. When we visited in July it was closed during daytime. Maybe open on Sundays. The monastery also has a museum which is open on Sundays in conjunction with the mass. From Nova Gorica it's a mere 20 min ride by car to get uphill. Bus is also available to Grgar, if you'd like to hike up the last 2-3 km. Must see if you're in the Gorizia/Nova Gorica area!

What was once part of the harbour is now a beautiful town square full of shiny white marble. At the centre stands the statue of Giuseppe Tartini - the famous violinist, bon in Piran. The square serves as the mid point between the harbour below and the church above. A great place for a quiet beverage at any time of the day.

The walk uphill is absolutely worth it. Walking on this historic segment of the city wall not only imparts a sense of history, but it also provides great views of the historic town. Reasonably priced and a must for visitors. By walking a little farther uphill from the walls, we found a beautiful stone-paved walkway back down into town. The little cafe by the entrance has restrooms, and provided a nice place to stop for beverages after our tour of the walls.

A lovely memorial to the Italian men who lost their lives at the Soca front during World War 1 .. Their names are engraved in the sides of the memorial.
