Long the home of Portugal’s monarchs, Sintra is a magnificent town of marvelous historic mansions, all set against the backdrop of lush hills. Sintra’s many castles include the Palácio Nacional de Sintra (a main abode of Portuguese royalty until the early 20th century), the hilltop and storybook Palácio da Pena, Quinta de Regaleira (incorporating several architectural styles and with gorgeous surrounding gardens), the Castelo dos Mouros (Moorish Castle), and the Palácio de Monserrate.

I simply love both the Celtic atmosphere as well as the self-made beverages this place offers. The toasts are also quite tasty and on Saturdays they have a guitarist with some background music.

Sinistra, the new place of Fado in Sintra. Great location, just two minutes away from the train station and behind the former City Hall. Different from the Fado Houses in the capital, Lisbon. A brand New Generation of musicians and Fado Singers - the so called "Fadistas". They are bringing us brightness and tradition at the same time! Only on Friday and Saturday! Come and visit us!
