What to do and see in Singapore River/Riverside, Singapore: The Best Spas & Wellness

February 27, 2022 Leonardo Torrence

The Singapore cityscape looks like it was ripped from the pages of a science fiction comic book. If you’re hungry for a true Singapore experience, sample the myriad street foods or take a cultural cooking class. The Botanic Gardens and the Gardens By the Bay offer a slice of horticultural heaven, and the observation deck of the Sands SkyPark makes you feel like you’re high above the clouds. The banks and walkways along the Singapore River bustle with local activity.

Highly recommended. from the reception staff with Eilleen, Ling Ling and Ah Wei who are friendly and helpful up to the excellent massage of Steven this time for 5-in-1 foot reflex, head and shoulder massage. Steven is excellent as well in full body massage and another therapist I recommend is Lau for foot reflex. Their massages and strokes are relaxing and excellent for muscle recovery.

Ikeda Spa

Ikeda Spa is the first authentic Japanese onsen (hot spring) public bathhouse in Singapore. Step inside warm tatami rooms, luxuriate in steaming onsen baths, robe up with intricate yukatas and find a quiet moment to observe the soft lapping waters of the Singapore River - every detail teleports the escape artist from the watering holes of Clarke Quay to the quiet sanctuaries of Kyoto.

I went for an extensive pampering treat as it was my birthday, and it did NOT disappoint. The body scrub and wrap, the onsen bath, the massage (on a solid volcanic hot-stone slab), and the organic geisha facial - they were all refreshing and well worth the price. Even their teas were nice (I think I had three different variants - during my onsen bath, pre-facial, and post-treatment)! I opted for a moderate-pressure massage, and I guess that's cos of wrong judgment - TBH, I underestimated the masseuse being a pretty, slender girl - figured she cannot exert such "moderate pressure". But boy was I wrong! Her strength was beyond moderate it felt "heavy" for me - but I loved it nonetheless!!! Every pain from every knead on every sore muscle I had was just so worth it - unlike other massages where you go home feeling sore (when you're supposed to feel refreshed) - what I had was so soothing and refreshing I was like walking on air as I left the spa. For the facial, my masseuse interviewed me first regarding my skin condition and issues, and skincare routine before the treatment started. She treated me accordingly, and her advise was on point. My skin, though oily, was indeed dehydrated on the surface, cos since we're working from home, I tend to slack and NOT adhere to the routine I do when we weren't on the WFH scheme. I could tell how dehydrated it was when it was being pricked. All the emulsions, solutions she put on my face smelled and felt refreshing. And it's not just the usual facial - your head and neck area gets a massage as well, perhaps to stimulate lymphatic drainage. As I said earlier, despite the pressure, my masseuse was VERY gentle. Overall, service is highly recommended. I'd definitely go back. And of course, they observed all measures necessary given the pandemic situation. I guess it was the best 6 hours spent straight on a pampering service. :) Yes, six full hours. Indeed, a HAPPY birthday for me!

Visited this establishment with my husband as we were in dire need of a good massage. The setup is ok, not your traditional type of setup as it is very basic. The massage on the other hand was incredible! We did the 2 hour massage each and walked out feeling amazingg! Although they did not offer a couples room, it wasn’t that big of an issue. The therapist there are also super friendly and just adorable. Would definitely return on our next trip to Singapore.

I have completed 200hrs YTT with Raj and Mien and graduated in Oct 2019. The YTT comprises the practice of Asana, Pranayama, Anatomy, Chanting, Meditation, Yama&Niyama, Yoga philosophy. We need to complete a daily journal, 10 yoga observation classes, 10 teachings, and exams. Raj is very knowledgeable in Asana and Anatomy. Raj is a strict yoga instructor. He respects the principle and originality of yoga. The development of yoga has been greatly influenced by dance moves and other factors, and Raj explained it to us how the posture has changed and what is the most primitive way of practicing yoga. Mien is specializing in Yoga Philosophy and Theory. It's really interesting to understand Yoga from another perspective, where we are not only practicing physically but it is also to understanding and improving our mental and spiritual self. I truly appreciate every lessons and time spent in Yoga Mala. Namaste.
